Cross Domain Copy Paste

Cross Domain Copy Paste lets you copy Page Builder rows and widgets from one website and paste them into another. For example, you can copy a row from your own site and paste it into a client site on a different domain.

Requirements

Activate the addon on both sites: the site you copy from and the site you paste into. Go to SiteOriginPremium Addons and activate Cross Domain Copy Paste. If the admin uses HTTP, an alert shows and the addon deactivates again.

The other site needs the same widgets. A widget from a plugin that the other site doesn’t have shows as a Missing Widget.

How It Works

Page Builder has free copy and paste. It keeps the copied row or widget in your browser’s storage for one site. So you can paste it on any page of the same site, but not on another domain.

This addon adds one step. When you click Copy Row or Copy Widget, the addon also puts the row or widget on your computer’s clipboard as text. On the other site, you paste that text into a field. Page Builder then has the row or widget ready to paste as normal.

Copy a Row or Widget to Another Site

  1. On the first site, open the page in Page Builder.
  2. Right-click the row or widget, then click Copy Row or Copy Widget.
  3. On the other site, edit the page where you want the content.
  4. Below the content editor, find the SiteOrigin Premium box and click Cross Domain Copy Paste.
  5. Click in the text field and paste (Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac). When the paste works, the field empties and this message shows above it: “Success. You can now right-click and paste in Page Builder.”
  6. In Page Builder, right-click where you want the content, then click Paste Row or Paste Widget.

If the message says “Something went wrong. Please try copying the data again.”, copy the row or widget on the first site again, then paste again.

Don’t copy anything else between steps 2 and 5. A new copy replaces the row or widget on your clipboard.

The pasted content includes its settings and styles. Media Library images are saved by their ID on the first site. On the other site, that ID can point to a different image or to nothing. After you paste, check each image and choose it again from this site’s Media Library.

Where You Can Paste

After you paste into the field, you can paste the row or widget in any Page Builder editor on that site, not only on the page you pasted into. This includes the Classic Editor, the Live Editor sidebar and the SiteOrigin Layout block in the Block Editor.

The SiteOrigin Premium box doesn’t show on some screens, for example when you edit a Mirror Widget or a SiteOrigin Layout Builder widget in AppearanceWidgets. For those, paste into the field on any post or page edit screen first. Then open the Mirror Widget or the Layout Builder and paste as normal.

Settings

The addon has no settings. The Settings button on the addon card shows a short notice about how the addon works.
