This page explains how to use Vantage on a site in more than one language, and it lists the known challenges when you use Vantage with other plugins.

Multilingual Websites

To offer your site in more than one language, we recommend Polylang or WPML (a premium plugin).

Vantage is translation ready and includes a rtl.css file for right-to-left languages.

Translate the Vantage Texts

Vantage has a wpml-config.xml file. It lists five texts that WPML can translate with its String Translation. These are the settings that hold the texts:

  • Header Text, in Logo.
  • Mobile Menu Text, in Navigation.
  • Post Author’s Comments and Read More Text, in Blog.
  • Site Information Text, in General.

For other texts on your site, use the string translation tool of your multilingual plugin.

Known Challenges

Vantage splits the footer widget area into equal columns, one for each widget. Vantage 1.20.33 and older count the widgets of all languages, even when Polylang shows only some of them. For example, one widget for each of two languages gives two columns of 50 percent. Newer versions count only the widgets that show. Mega Menu Plugins

Vantage does not load its mobile menu when UberMenu is active, or when Max Mega Menu is on for the Primary Menu location. These plugins make their own mobile menu, and the Mobile Menu settings of Vantage then have no effect. See Navigation.
