Menu Icons

You can add an icon to each page in your Primary Menu. The icon shows next to the name of the page in the menu. Vantage uses Font Awesome 6 and offers just over 2,000 icons, grouped by category.

Add an Icon to a Page

1. Show your menu in the Primary Menu location. See Menus and Menu Location.
2. Edit a page that is in the menu.
3. Find the Menu Icon box in the page settings on the right. Choose an icon from the list.
4. Click Update. The icon shows next to the page in the menu.

To see the icons before you choose, go to the Font Awesome icons page. The list in the box shows the icon names in words.

To remove an icon, choose None and update the page. Icons that you chose before Vantage moved to Font Awesome 6 still show.

Change the Icon Colors

Go to AppearanceCustomizeTheme DesignMenu. Use Icon Color and Icon Hover Color. See Menu.

Show a Home Icon

Go to AppearanceCustomizeTheme SettingsNavigation and turn on Home Page Icon. Vantage then shows a home icon for the menu link to your home page. This icon replaces the icon that you chose for that page. See Navigation.

What You Can Not Do

The Menu Icon box is only available for pages. You can not add an icon to posts, custom links or categories in your menu. Vantage has one menu location, the Primary Menu, so icons show only there.

To add icons to other menu items, use the Menu Icons plugin. It has more icon libraries and options such as sizing, hiding the label and using your own icon image.
