The Editor Widget gives you the WordPress Classic Editor inside a widget. Use it to add formatted text, links, images, lists and shortcodes anywhere you can place a widget.

Requirements

To use this widget, go to PluginsSiteOrigin Widgets and activate the Editor Widget.

You can use the Editor Widget anywhere:

Page Builder: Insert the widget in Page Builder by SiteOrigin, in the Classic Editor or in the Page Builder Layout Block.
Block Editor: Insert the SiteOrigin Editor block. You will find it in the SiteOrigin category.
Theme and Plugin Widget Areas: Insert the widget into any theme or plugin widget area.

Settings

Title
An optional widget title above the content.

Content editor
The editor has no label. It works like the WordPress Classic Editor:

  • The Visual tab shows formatted text with a toolbar for headings, bold, lists, links and more.
  • The Code tab shows the HTML.
  • The Add Media button inserts images and other files from the Media Library.

On the front end, the widget runs shortcodes and turns a media URL on its own line, such as a YouTube link, into an embed. Media Library images can get responsive srcset markup.

Automatically add paragraphs
Wraps your text in paragraph tags and turns single line breaks into <br> tags, like the WordPress post editor. Disable it if you write your own HTML in the Code tab and do not want extra paragraph and line break tags. The default comes from the global setting below.

If you add a Read More tag (<!--more-->), the widget ignores it on normal page views at the moment, and the full content shows.

Global Settings

Go to PluginsSiteOrigin Widgets and click Settings on the Editor Widget.

Enable the “Automatically add paragraphs” setting by default.
Sets the default of Automatically add paragraphs for Editor Widgets that you add after the change. Enabled by default.

SiteOrigin Premium

The Web Font Selector Addon in SiteOrigin Premium adds a Select Web Font list to the editor toolbar. Use it to apply Google Fonts or web-safe fonts to the text in the Editor Widget.

The Custom Palette Addon adds your own colors to the text color list in the Editor Widget toolbar.
