cannot edit functions.php since latest theme update

Hi I have a (hopefully simple) problem. Ever since the latest update to SiteOrigin Vantage I cannot edit functions.php. I need to add some code. Even if I don’t add the code and try to update the file by clicking Update File without any modifications I still am unable to update. I get the error…

Dear Team SiteOrigin, On the Button widget, how can you set the default test attributes for the button widget? The text is a link text object. Where can that be changed is the css style script? The button widget has a setting but only for the width for mobile devices. Kind regards, Caps
