Image widget, destination url not working?

This really should be a simple task. However, when using the image widget, the destination link is not working on the front end. It does work in the backside “preview” feature. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

I can’t get gutenberg working on my site! I tried selecting disable classic editor on new posts and nothing changes when I select new post (even when I select block editor)! Please help, I’d like to start using Gutenberg but it seems I’m stuck!
