Displaying short code instead of widget

For some reason, certain widgets, specifically “show posts” widgets, aren’t displaying the widget–only the shortcode–in a row. See https://saintjameslutheran.com/news-and-calendar/ The calendar (just a pasted shortcode) is fine, but even the basic WordPress “Recent Posts” widget gives a shortcode like you see there. Ideas?
