AppThemes Vantage and SiteOrigin Vantage

In a case of mistaken identity, WordPress has been updating users of AppThemes’ Vantage to SiteOrigin’s Vantage. This is a very unfortunate side effect of how the WordPress updates system works.

First, let’s take a look at how the WordPress updates system works. WordPress uses the theme slug as the identifier for a theme. A theme slug essentially a theme’s folder name. Because both our theme and AppThemes’ theme share a theme slug, WordPress mistakenly assumes they’re the same theme and tries to update both of them from the directory.

Page Builder Introduces 16 New Languages

With Page Builder, we want to bring content creation that’s free and powerful to the world. It’s our goal to democratize content creation in the same way WordPress itself has.

Yesterday, we made a huge leap in that direction by adding 16 more languages to Page Builder. In alphabetical order, these are Afrikaans, Bulgarian, Chinese (simplified), Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish and Swedish.

Page Builder 2 Changes Everything

We’ve been working on version 2 for months and planning it since last year. I’m glad to be able to give you a sneak peek at the next generation of Page Builder. This update is far more than a small iterative update. It’s a complete rewrite and redesign of almost every key component. We’re hoping to release this as a free update early next month.

Design in the Crowd

As far as I know, there hasn’t been a lot of research into using crowdsourcing to optimize or even design web elements. So this weekend I ran a simple experiment into using crowdsourcing to create the world’s first crowd designed button.

Price Table Plugin for WordPress

When I saw this beautiful price table design, by the equally dashing Orman Clark, I knew I had to turn it into a WordPress plugin. I’m very happy with the result. I managed to almost exactly reproduce Orman’s design using pure CSS3.

It has a simple drag and drop builder. Perfect if you dont like fiddling around with shortcodes.
