What’s the difference between margin and padding?

Margin and Padding appear to me to achieve the same thing? Is there something I’m not understanding though??

I am using site-origin builder in my all websites, such as www.lincoln-edu.ae, www.mygbs.org it was working fine. When I have updated the plugin then the panel-grid-cell is breaking. I have tried many times yet the problems are same. Plz help…
