want Some rows not to be full width

By Barb, 8 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 8 years ago.

I am using North theme, and want some of my rows to only take up the center space (e.g. like pilatesology.com site – some rows are across whole page, but things like testimonials and 3-image feature rows have very wide left and right margins). How do I make/keep some of my rows to take up the entire screen width AND have some of my other rows show up with left/right margins a la pilatesology site? At this point, all my rows take up entire screen width (I expect that to happen as device is smaller, but not on desktop view).
Any help would be appreciated – Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi betty

Thanks for reaching out. You can adjust each Page Builder row layout by editing the row, clicking Layout in the right column and then Row Layout where you’ll find Standard, Full Width and Full Width Stretched. Full Width Stretched is full screen width and Full Width will constrain the content but not the row background color. Standard constrains everything.

Thanks, Andrew. That was the clearest definition I’ve read of the 3 screen widths. I went and checked, and in PageBuilder my rows are set to the correct width … but they still span the entire page. I got out of pagebuilder but stayed in WordPress edit mode for that page, and checked my settings for the entire page – this is where the page layout options are, per theme North (I assume, because I didn’t have all these page settings options under my previous theme). Here, at the page level, I had ‘full width’ checked. I viewed the page again to make sure, and with ‘full width’ active, it worked like you described ‘full width stretched’ (at the wordpress Page level, I see no ‘full width stretched’ option, just these 4: Default, No Sidebar, Full Width, and Full Width With Sidebar). Anyway, guessing, I changed to ‘No Sidebar”; checked my page…and now everything looked like I intended e.g. rows that were previously stretched across my entire page now are constrained as I wanted.
My URL for the page I’m describing is http://happyhealthyfactoids.com/pb-test-home-page/ if you want to check it out.

Thanks for your help! With your information, I was able to hone in on where the problem was actually stemming from and make informed guesses. Yay!:)

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update, it sounds like we might be confusing Page Builder row layout options and North page options. If you don’t want all rows to be full width then edit your page, go to the right column page options and set your page layout to No Sidebar. Do not use Full Width as that will make the page 100% width.

Then, if you’re using Page Builder for the page in question you can click the spanner icon far right > Edit Row > Layout > Row Layout and choose Standard, Full Width or Full Width Stretched on a row by row basis.

Summary: North has page settings and Page Builder has row settings, two different things to consider.
