Hi all,
I installed SiteOrigin Page Builder, and in my wp admin followed the Site Origin link (suggestion at top of the builder page) to install additional widgets AND a starter site.
I looked at the starter sites available and chose UNWIND.
I am none the wiser.
I would expect, having chosen a starter site, that the SO plugin would import various pages and styles and whatever templates etc. it needs, so that my site when visited looks like the UNWIND demo.
But no such thing, I just have a site with the regular WP blog and Sample pages, unstyled and nothing that looks anything like UNWIND.
So, what’s going on? What is a Starter site if it’s not an import of pages and styles that replicate the demo? There are plenty of other theme providers who have a similar import starter site function….and they work!
I’m not sure what to do? Having opted for the UNWIND starter site and not seeing anything in my admin or live site to reflect such a design or layout…..what’s going on? And what do i do next?
Thanks.
Hi Hector
Thanks for getting in touch.
It sounds like you might have installed Unwind from the SiteOrigin Installer. If so, Unwind will install the theme off the WordPress theme directory. The SiteOrigin Installer is a shortcut for installing and updating our themes and plugins.
If you’d like a starter site you can check out our Site Packs https://siteorigin.com/pack/. The following packs use Unwind:
Pack: Free Prebuilt WordPress Website Template for Bed and Breakfast Hotels
Pack: Free Prebuilt WordPress Website Template for Musicians and Bands
Pack: Free Prebuilt WordPress Website for Travel Bloggers
Pack: Free Prebuilt WordPress Website for sharing your birthday event
Pack: Free Prebuilt WordPress Website for Holiday Greetings and Wishes
Pack: Free Prebuilt WordPress Website for Seasons Greetings and Wishes
Hi Andrew, thanks for getting back.
Well yes, of I installed from the SiteOrigin installer…because that’s what it invites you to do! Before installing I would have no idea about starter sites, and there’s no mention (that I could see) of starter packs. I followed the installer because that’s the natural thing to do. when it asked me to choose a theme I did so, and also assumed it would install recommended plugins (although it didn’t notify what these were.)
It might just be me, but perhaps you might re-examine the logic behind the starter site/starter pack installs? If one is looking for a page builder, and upon install that page builder asks you if you’d like a starter site, and accordingly you choose one……well, you kind of expect it to load some pages and templates!
Thanks for the links to the starter packs, I’ll have a look at them when I’ve unfuzzed my brain…. ;)
regards
Hector
Hi Hector
Thanks for your feedback. SiteOrigin Site Packs overwrite all existing content but it sounds like you’re starting out with a fresh install so that won’t be an issue. If you have any follow-up queries, please let us know.
Cheers
Andrew
