How to make logo/header and meta slider full width

Hey guys. I need to make the log/header full width as well as the slider on the home page. I’ve look at all the normal setting with no luck. I’d like to know if it is possible to have the masthead and menu bar run full screen width while maintaining the boxed layout for the body content of a page. This would be a universal design element of the site – not specific to an individual page
