Hi,
I’m getting a multiple h1 tag warning for Yoast SEO on several pages but can only find one set of h1 tags.
Here’s a link to one of the effected pages.
Any ideas? https://johnnoblemartin.com/jazz-band-hire-bath-bristol-london/
I’m using the Unwind theme with page builder.
Many thanks,
John
Hi John
Thanks for reaching out.
Have you perhaps made changes since posting? Jazz Band Hire, Bath, Bristol & Avon is the only h1 tag I can see.
If you’re using Chrome you inspect the page source using the following URL: view-source:https://johnnoblemartin.com/jazz-band-hire-bath-bristol-london/ and then do an in-page search for h1.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for getting back. I also can’t find any other h1 tags and I haven’t changed anything but Yoast is still flagging the same issue. See screen shot. https://i877.photobucket.com/albums/ab340/jtm78/Screen%20Shot%202020-08-03%20at%2010.53.43.png
Is this something I should bring up with Yoast? or could it be because of using a hero image at the top of every page?
All the best,
John
Thanks for the screenshot. From a search engine perspective, I’m happy that we’ve checked the page source and found only one h1 so this might be a Page Builder – Yoast content analysis challenge. If you don’t mind waiting for the next Page Builder release, we’ve made some improvements to the content analysis for Yoast, hopefully, that’ll resolve the issue. But from a website to search engine view, you’re all good, there is only one h1 on the page.
Hi Andrew,
If it’s all good for search engines I’m happy to wait for the page builder update. If you don’t mind I have another question. Is there a way to use a background image for an entire page with page builder? I guess I would need to adjust the opacity of the image for the text to be readable.
As always, your help is much appreciated!
Many thanks,
John
Hi John
Thanks for your understanding.
Alex covers a similar topic in this post Post: Create a Fullscreen Slider with the SiteOrigin Hero Widget. You could perhaps apply the same technique using the Layout Slider which allows for widgets to be used.
You could also use Custom CSS to add a background image to the page. This is the sort of topic we can dive a bit deeper into within our premium support scope where the budget allows it.
Thanks Andrew,
Yes, was thinking it might be possible to use the hero widget. Can search engines access the content within the hero widget like any other text widget?
I’ve had a go here. https://johnnoblemartin.com/saxophone-lessons-bath-bristol-frome/
I decided against the full width background in the end. Seems to work well for mobile and computer view but not for a pad. Is there a way to set the depth of the hero image dimensions for a pad? There’s currently a big blank space of just the background image at the bottom before the next section.
All the best,
John
Sure, the content in the Hero is normal HTML markup in the page.
The Mobile Height setting in the Hero applies below 780px. At the moment, unfortunately, there isn’t a tablet height setting available although it would be possible to set a tablet height using Custom CSS.
Thanks Andrew,
The hero widget works really well but not really usable in this case if I can’t set a hight for tablets
I’ll look into other options.
All the best!
John
For sure. Let us know if any follow-up questions arise.
Cheers :)
Thanks Andrew,
it seems there might be a bug with the contact form widget since the widget bundle update.
I’m not able to open it to make changes.
Any other reports of this?
Hi, not at this time. Please, could you check for a working baseline? Does the issue resolve if you temporarily deactivate all non-SiteOrigin plugins? Thanks.
Thanks Andrew, yes disabling all plugins works. Must be a new conflict since the update. All the best, John
Thanks for the update. When reactivating your plugins you might break the list into four parts and reactivate in batches before trying to isolate the conflicting plugin, I usually find that’s a bit quicker.
Morning Andrew, that’s a handy tip thank you. The conflict seems to be with the Wordfence Security plugin. All the best, John
Glad to hear you’re making progress. You could perhaps try checking the steps in this thread Thread: Date appearing when trying to edit widgets in Page Builder to see if they’ll help with this issue.
Hi Andrew, you’re amazing! That solved the issue. Really impressed with what you guys are doing at SiteOrigin. Is there a way to create a hover effect for the mobile and tablet menu?
Oh, and Yoast SEO still doesn’t seem to be working properly. Is there another good SEO plugin that works with page builder?
Super, glad to hear you’re making progress.
At the moment, there isn’t a theme setting available to add hover effects to the mobile menu. It’s something that can be achieved using Custom CSS but is a little outside of our free support scope.
Yoast recently made changes that required us to update our integration. Those changes will be included in the next Page Builder update, hopefully, later this week. This assumes the issue you’re referring to is content analysis.
No problem Andrew, I’ll see if I can figure out some custom CSS and I’ll sit tight for the update.
Thanks! We’ll get that out as soon as possible in the next few days.
