Missing Social Media Icons

For some reason, the icons are missing from the social media widget I’ve placed in my main site header. I’m not entirely sure when they disappeared, but they’ve been replaced with little rectangles. The links still work, but I’m disappointed in this development as it’s the first thing potential customers see when my site loads. Has anyone else experienced this? I try to run my site with as few plugins as possible. I may have to delete this one if I can’t find a solution for it.

    Hi :) The Widgets Bundle Font Awesome library was updated, please see Post: Widgets Bundle Now Featuring Font Awesome 5. The problem should be easily resolved by clearing your site’s cache if you’re using a caching plugin. In some cases, your browser cache might need to be cleared. If you’d like us to take a look, please send a link to your site.

    Thanks for your response! I’ve tried clearing the cache, but that hasn’t helped so far. I have a caching plugin and I’ve cleared the browser cache. Here’s my site link: dreamandcotravel.com

    Upon further inspection, it appears the only way I’d have any access to changing the icons in my social media widget is to upgrade to the premium version. I don’t have a problem with the premium version, but it seems rather shoddy to offer a feature on the free version that doesn’t really work. Correct me if I’m wrong. With the free version though, the only control I have over the social media widget is the color of the icons, the shape of them, and padding, etc. I don’t have the option of choosing icons.

    You could perhaps try viewing your site in another browser to confirm, I’m sure it’s just a local caching issue of some sort. If you’re using Cloudflare that might need to be cleared for example.

    The Social Media Icons widget offers the selection of 41 networks. If you’d like the option the create your own networks with custom icons, it does require the premium addon. You can select the network you’d like, the standard icon/logo for that network will display. If you choose Facebook, the Facebook logo will display. SiteOrgin offer a huge array of functionality in our free plugins. It takes a small team of developers and support staff to maintain, expand and offer support for our products. When you say the free version doesn’t really work, are you specifically referring to the problem with icons not loading? If so, that’s definitely a short term caching issue.

    Yes, I was specifically referring to the social icons widget apparently not working. Not the plugin as a whole. This caching issue has me confused though. I guess I just need to wait a few days and see if it clears itself up. When I access my site incognito, the icons show up just fine. Very strange. Oh well, as long as customers are seeing the icons properly that’s all that matters. Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me! I am considering the premium version for the many other features it offers. But what I took issue with was thinking I needed to own the Premium version in order for one of the free features to work properly. Thanks for clearing that up!

    Really glad to hear the icons are showing up when private browsing. Mmm, that’s strange they aren’t showing after clearing your browser cache.

    I see you aren’t using Cloudflare. Are you hosting with SiteGround? Is there perhaps a hosting level cache that can be cleared?
