Hello.
I am trying to create a testimonials slider, using Layout slider with each frame containing an editor.
Everything happens normally (add new slide, create content, set design…) until i close the Layout slider and try to update the whole page.
For some reason it always gives a red “Updating Failed” message on the top, but without actual useful error content.
Is it a known error in the plugin, in WP, am I doing smth wrong…

Also, is there a way to normalize the height of the slider? its height is shifting depending on the content of the slides, which makes the whole page shift :S
    Thank you

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi, thanks for reaching out.

When the issue occurs, perhaps try opening the browser console. Here is how https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis. If errors are present in red, please, screenshot, upload to imgur.com or any sharing/public site and send us the link.

    Hi Katana,

You can give the Layout Slider a static height by opening the Layout Slider and then opening the Design and Layout settings group. Set a Height that will be used for each slide. I also recommend setting a Responsive Height.

Can you please also provide us with a copy of your Layout? This will allow us to run some tests on our end. To export a page, please open up the linked page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as WeTransfer (no email is required).

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hello guys,
Sorry for the late reply, but i was trying a few things meanwhile, like deactivating plugins, installing “Classic Editor”… nothing really worked.
So i uploaded the files to this link => https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zhpmhfkicfvqqx6/AABDFIvkGLQNYTEfYaDwJvXla?dl=0
They includ the layout JSON file and screenshots about installed plugins and the actual error message.
After a few digging, there seems to be 2 hidden objects on the form with same ID, but also errors coming from serverside (it seems).
The funny thing is the page actually gets updated as content, BUT when it gives the error message, the form’s “Page Settings” keeps on loading for a little while.
I hope you got all details needed, and i’ll be waiting for your replies.
Side note: i just purchased the premium dev package, if it’s of any help for you.
    Best,
    Marcel

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Marcel,

Thank you for the screenshots. The contents of your browser console are fairely common, and can be safely disregarded.

Is the provided layout meant to have Layout Slider? If not, can you please set up the Layout Slider as desired and before attempting to save please export the layout and send that.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
Sorry for the mishap, but i forgot to mention that the same “Updating Failed” message is given EVEN when i completely removed the row containing the slider widget; which turns it into a more global updating error, not directly related to the slider.
Which really puzzles me, as not to be able to identify the reason it’s always giving this error, even though the page contents are being updated. Again, i think it’s an error related to the page saving maybe, noting that the the form’s “Page Settings” keeps on loading for a little while after attempting the update.
Did you receive any similar errors lately? might it be related to WP as a whole? can you suggest a pathway of possible resolution?
Your feedback would be much appreciated.
    Best,
    Marcel

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Marcel,

I’m able to save and make edits to the provided layout without issue. I suspect you may be facing a plugin conflict. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

If that didn’t help, can you please show me a screenshot of the error mesage you’re getting?

    Kind regards,
    Alex
