Home page in vantage and polylang

Hi there,

can someone help me, I have been struggling with this for a few days now. I am using the Vantage theme and the polylang plug-in. Everything is working perfectly except for the fact that my home page and front page are not linked. Therefore, regardless of the language I choose to visit my website (in my case english and french), I have to press on the Home Page tab otherwise all I see is a blank page.
I have tried going to settings/reading and set front page display to static, and choose the home page as the page but I can’t save changes…

Can you please help me solve this issue? That is the last one I have to get this site up and running!!
Thank you very much in advance!
Aida

    Hi Aida

Sorry to hear about the hassle. Have you tried going to PagesHome and not AppearanceHome Page? From PagesHome you should be able to link your translated home page using the right column Polylang meta box.

    Hi Andrew,

I have done that actually and it doesn’t work…I even deleted my existing home pages, created a new english one, which I have translated and I still get only one language that shows up on the 2 versions of the page…
    Anything else I can try?

    Thanks,

    Aida

Sure, you’ll need to disable Custom Fields in the Synchronization settings of Polylang.

Please, see my last screenshot provided here: Thread: Page builder and polylang plugin.

Andrew you saved me! Thank you so much it worked! I had to redo my Home Pages from scratch but that was a small price to pay for fixing that bug.

I just have 2 more things related to this issue that I’d like your input on please…

In the french version of my Home Page (which is titled Accueil) the word ”Accueil” appears at the top of the page…I’d like to remove that, how can I go about doing that? It only happens in french, I don’t see ”HOME at the top of my page in english.

The other thing is that at the bottom of both home pages (english and french), I see this:

    Nothing Found

    How can I remove that?

Thank you so much for your help!

Glad to hear you’re making progress.

Edit the French home page, in the right column set the Template to Default, you can then use the Page Settings below that and disable the page title.

    Page: Page Settings

Check if you have a Post Loop widget on each of the home pages, if you do, remove it.

Let me know how this all goes.

    Hi Andrew,

its weird, I don’t have Page settings on any of my pages! That would have made my life so much easier..

This is what I have in the right colum:

    Languages
    Publish
Page Attributes (I was already set to Default template)
    Page Meta slider
    Menu Icon
    Featured Image

How can I add the Page Settings? it doesn’t even give me an option in the ”screen options”.

As for the Post Loop widget, yes I added it…but if I remove it, do I have to install another widget to put a video?

Thanks again for all your help!

If the Post Loop widget is showing No posts then you can definitely remove it, it isn’t displaying anything then. You can always remove it and test things out, add it back if required.

Edit the home page and change the Page Template from Default to Page Builder Home, that should do the trick.

Page Settings should be in Vantage version 1.5.
