Center site title help needed

Hi, there are a number of old threads going back over 10 years where people have tried lots of CSS to do this and can’t get it to work. I’m in the same boat. (Maybe this needs to be added as a function since it seems to be desired.) I’ve tried the CSS suggestions in the threads and what the Google AI spat out; I’ve edited the theme code directly; no luck.

When open the Inspector, there is a panel on the masthead beside the site title taking up space, and I can’t seem to get rid of it anywhere. It seems to be something related to the hgroup flexbox, possibly for a sidebar. Or maybe support text. Happy to provide a screen shot.
