Is it possible to add a folder and file to vantage theme as I want to create a sitemap

All WordPress.org themes completely overwrite their own folder during theme updates. To do this in an updated safe way you’d need to add your file to a child theme:
https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/vantage-child-starter.zip
Activating a child theme will cause Customizer and menu location settings to reset. This is an expected result.
Using a plugin would be an easier solution: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=sitemap
