I use the SiteOrigin North Theme and Page Builder to create all of my websites, but I’ve run into a serious problem. I updated the North Theme in one of my WordPress websites to the 1.2.4 version, and the update changed parts of my CSS in the style.css sheet back to the original CSS settings.
Of course, when I create my own websites, I change aspects of the CSS style sheet to my specifications.
Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong? I didn’t anticipate that a theme update would alter my style sheet. Is this supposed to happen?

Hi Alison
Thanks for posting your question.
All WordPress themes and plugins completely overwrite their own folder during the update process.
If you need to edit theme files other than style.css, you can make use of a child theme. You can find our child theme overview here: Page: Child Themes.
If you are only editing style.css then you don’t need a child theme and can use a Custom CSS plugin. There are lots to choose from, give ours a try: Page: SiteOrigin CSS Editor. You can find the documentation for SiteOrigin CSS here: Page: Getting Started.
Hope that helps explain what happened and how to proceed into the future :)
