    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Suzabelle

    Thanks for reaching out.

WordPress unfortunately doesn’t display the comment form on the blog/archive page or in this case, in the Post Loop (PB) widget.

If you’d like to split your posts so that users continue reading on the single post page, please try adding the more quicktag to each post:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

That’ll add a Continue reading button which directs users to finish reading on the single post page. Your comment form will appear there.

    Hope that helps a little.

Hi Andrew,Is it possible to use a different Page Builder widget or isthere some other way to display a blog post & comments on the Home Page, while keeping the Vantage home page layout?
The client requested it, and I do see many blogs that havecomments and everything on the home page. The thing is that we are also displaying a slider on the top, sonot sure if the static page is the best approach.I have never used a blog post for the home page – would itinclude comments, and could we use the Vantage home page layout? This is not my requirement, but a client would like it for thehome page.Suzabelle

    Hi, I Work Here

As far as I’m aware it’s not possible to display the post comment form on any blog/archive layout in any of our themes or widgets. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a WordPress theme do this. Sorry I don’t have better news.

Here is the Vantage demo. Everything is the same whether your using the posts page setting to display posts or using the Post Loop widget in Page Builder:

    Blog page: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/blog/
    Archive page: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/author/sodemo/
    Single post: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/2013/09/27/absorbed/

If you take a quick look through https://wordpress.org/themes/ you’ll notice the same setup on all themes.

There are many reasons for this. One is space. The comments form appears at the bottom of the comments area where existing comments are displayed. You can imagine how messy/long blog/archive pages would get if they were displaying the full post and comments section on one page.

Appearance > Theme Settings Blog > Post Content lets you choose between Full Content or Excerpt. If you want to use the more quicktag be sure to set that to Full Content.

Hi Andrew,Ok, I'll try the quicktag/"read more" splitting idea.I guess I'm used to seeing blog pages that include comments on publication sites. The client requested it, so I will try it and see if they're okay with the quicktag.Thank you, your answers are very helpful.Suzabelle

    Hi, I Work Here

I’m almost certain that if you look back on those sites you’ll see you were looking at single posts and not archive/blog pages.

If you can find an example of what you’re after, send it through, perhaps we can find a plugin to help out.

Hi Andrew, I think you're right. So if I add a single post, would I be able to display comments too?I'm trying out the splitting right now. The only thing is that the full page with the rest of the article & comments shows a 'back' button for a different blog post, and I would like to eliminate it.
    Nothing like wordpress world!Suzabelle

    Hi, I Work Here

Appearance > Theme Setting > Navigation > Post Navigation. If you disable that setting the previous post, next post buttons will be removed. Single posts are where comments are displayed. The read more quicktag splits your posts at a point of your choosing so that the reader finishes up on the main post page where at the bottom the comment form is displayed.

Global comment settings are found at Settings > Discussion. Activating or de-activating comments there only changes new posts. For existing posts, edit the post, click Screen Options top right, enable Discussion, scroll down to below the Visual Editor and ensure the discussion settings are checked to enable comments on that post.

Hi Andrew,Would you happen to know how to create a 2 column page? The page builder shows 'Add Row" but it doesn't turn the text into 2 columns!- could someone at Vantage Theme support try it out and let me know? Thanks,

    Hi, I Work Here

We unfortunately don’t yet have a way to split existing content into columns within Page Builder. You’d need to seek out a plugin to try help with that, I’m just not sure that there are any that will work in a widget format in Page Builder.

    Hi, I Work Here

Here we go, give the following the plugin a try:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/columns/

In the Text tab/view of either the regular content editor or the Visual Editor widget in Page Builder, wrap your content as follows:

    [column-group]
        [column]This is my first column[/column]
        [column]This is my second column[/column]
    [/column-group]

I just tested it out now and it works well.

    Hope that helps.

Are there any page layouts available in Vantage Theme? I thoughtpage builder allowed for this. Why doesn't 'Add Row" work? Can someonethere please test it for us?- I will try your column method but I am worried that Page Builder is not working correctly. I used PB on another theme and we were able to create sidebars, and different layout configurations.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Pages offer:

    Default: Regular page with sidebar
    Full Width: No sidebar
Full Width No Title: No sidebar not title.

Think of Page Builder columns as the skeleton you’re inserting widgets into. Page Builder can’t split content into columns because it can’t split a widget. Your text could be in a Text or Visual Editor widget. That widget needs to go in one column. With a two or three column page layout your widget still needs to go in one of those columns. Hopefully that explains what’s happening there.

For a full run through on adding columns and building a layout, please see: Page: Building a Page.

If you need to manage your sidebar widget area on a per page basis, you can use one of the following:

    http://www.woothemes.com/woosidebars/
    http://jetpack.me/support/widget-visibility/

Page Builder can add pre-built layouts from the Prebuilt Layouts button available on any Page Builder page. Those layouts are added by the theme. Vantage only adds a home page layout.

    Hope that helps :)

Ok, so in other words, for Vantage theme, Page Builder isconfigured/pre-built to work only on the home page layout. If we want to use Page Builder for other pages, we need toconfigure/pre-build them ourselves? Is there information on how to create the pre-built layouts sowe can design our pages?I understand that currently there is the default page w sidebar, full width no sidebar, and full width.

    Hi, I Work Here

Page Builder’s core function is to give you a blank slate and let you build your page as required. You begin by adding rows then columns and finally add your widgets to the layout as required. Page Builder is available on any page or post. The home page gives you a starting point by adding a few default widgets that you can either use or delete and add your own. Unless you’re a theme developer it’s not necessary to go into creating pre-built layouts. To design your pages simply go to Pages, click on the page in question, click on the Page Builder tab that appears to the right of the Visual and Text tabs and start building.

Page Templates apply to a page whether you’re using Page Builder or not. If you use the Default page template you’ll be able to manage your sidebar widgets from Appearance > Widgets > Sidebar and then on any given page you’ll manage that page’s widgets in Page Builder.

Our complete documentation section can be found here: Page: Getting Started With Page Builder. Our short Page Builder 2.0 overview video is here: https://vimeo.com/114529361.

We have some epic plans in the pipeline for getting prebuilt layouts into themes but for now you will need to build your own page layouts. Perhaps this is where we’re missing each other. Besides the home page you do need to build your own layout. Apologies if you were under a different impression.

    Thanks for your support.

Yes, I was under the impression that Vantage theme offered page layouts for more than just the home page.
But thanks for the instruction and direction on page layout building options.
I will try it out the best I can.

    Hi, I Work Here

So sorry about that, unfortunately just the home page. Hopefully something we’ll have added in the future.

Let us know if anything else comes up.

    Hi,
FYI, here’s a link to a wp website that shows comments on the home page:

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi :)

The link you’ve sent is to a single post:

    http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2014/04/30/chewy-fudgy-homemade-brownies/

The home page: http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/ and category layout: http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/category/brownies-bars/ are without comment forms.

    Hope that that makes sense.

Yes, you're right.I see that the home page doesn't have comments.S.
