This is my first website. I chose Vantage Professional, because it was supposed to be powerful, to do this. I have written .pdf books I want to distribute to the public for free download. Now I am at my wit’s end. I have managed to create two pages, a static HOME PAGE and a second page, where I have been experimenting to find any way to hang or paste download buttons for my .pdf files that I have been uploading to my website.
TWO ISSUES:
#1. First, I installed the Simple Download Manager from Word Press into my Word Press Control Panel. Next I uploaded one of my .pdf books to my website which uses your Vantage Professional theme
I did this twice, and I see no sign of them. If I can not upload files and display them for download on my Vantage website, I have wasted my money. Please help.
#2 I am afraid to add any more pages, because the last time I tried to add a blank page, my action somehow completely messed up my home page which I was not even dealing with, irrecoverably for the noob that I am, and had to start over from scratch, and even that was not intuitive or easy.
I think you can see from my efforts thus far at www.chronobiblica.org, that I am only inches away from where I want to get to. All I need is to set up my website with my Simple Download Manager I installed into my WordPress setup. But I see neither hide nor hair of it when I go to customize chronobiblica.org.
Furthermore, I prefer a plain vanilla blank sheet of a page with only header and footer, AND NO BLOGGING FEATURES OR FEEDBACK FEATURES ON IT. I may need the blogging features in reserve if a couple of years from now I am no longer so busy and can entertain reader’s feedbacks and add my blogs. BUT NO BLOGS. FOR NOW, I NEED BLANK PAGES IN VANTAGE. So how do I get rid of the feedback box for readers to send me messages, which I do not want. I would like for your PageMaker to set these blank pages up, and strip out the useless stuff I do not need which is in Vantage, which I can put back later when I need it.
Thank you.

Hi vilis
So sorry for the delay. Hopefully you’ve made progress on this.
1. File management and display is a core WordPress function. It’s not directly related to the theme. I haven’t used Simple Download Manager before. Could you perhaps confirm the plugin you’re using:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=Simple+Download+Manager
I’d imagine there is a second step that would need to be taken after uploading a file. A display related step.
2. Adding a new page from Pages > Add New shouldn’t change your home page which you can manage from Appearance > Home Page or Pages > Home. Go-ahead and add pages as required. Hopefully whatever happened before was a once off.
3. Please see our tutorial here: https://siteorigin.com/basics/disable-wordpress-comments/ on disabling WordPress comments.
Let us know where you are now and which plugin you’re using, we can try help out from there.
Thanks
