Unable to format text with a non-super admin access

2 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 2 years ago

Hello,

We’ve’ve encountered a challenging issue while using the SiteOrigin Page Builder on our website that never happened before (using siteorigin fpr 6 years). After updating siteorigin widgets bundle to the version 1.58.7 we’ve been experiencing difficulties when attempting to edit articles, specifically when applying bold and color styling to text. Each time I try to save these stylistic changes, the process fails, and the changes are not reflected on the website and are deleted in the backend (widget).

Note : as a super-admin we don’t have this problem.

What is happening ?

    Hi Raouf

    Thanks for posting your question.

Which user role is experiencing the issue?

If possible, please export the Page Builder layout. Within the page, click LayoutsImport/ExportDownload Layout. Upload the JSON file to WeTransfer or any online location and share the link here.

    Thanks again.

    Andrew

    Hello Andrew,

    Thank you for reaching out.

All the roles except the super-admin are experiencing this issue. The solution that we found was to downgrade the SiteOrigin Widget Bundle to the 1.58.6 version and it works fine now.

Thanks for the update. I can’t replicate the issue. Unfortunately, we can’t attend until we can replicate the issue or alternatively have an error log item to reference. Can you perhaps send us an example layout? Do the attending user roles have access to the TinyMCE (Visual/Text tabs)?

Yes they do. Here’s the layout I downloaded from an editor access. https://we.tl/t-5nwYEiR8tV

Thanks. I’ve hopefully replicated the issue. The issue isn’t present in single site installs from what I can see. We’ll update you a bit later today.

Good observation! Now that you mention it, I’ve just noticed that this problem is only present on my multisite sites, whereas it’s not the case on independent sites.

    Hi Raouf,

I’ve investigated this issue and come up with a fix that’s resolved this issue on my end. I’ve prepared a patched version for you to try and you can download it by clicking here. I recommend giving this a try on a staging/test site.

Before proceeding, please make a backup.

Navigate to My SitesNetwork AdminPlugins and scroll down to SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle. Deactivate the plugin and then delete it. Scroll to the top of the page and click Add New, Upload Plugin. Upload so-widgets-bundle.1.58.8-beta.zip and when prompted active.

    Kind regards,
    Alex
