Hello, I am new to web development and this is probably a fairly simple question. I am using a prebuilt Hero Layout for may page and when I got to enter in my own text it won’t save to the page. It either comes out blank or with the old text. Any ideas on how to solve this?
I appreciate the help.

Hi Dylan,
This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
Hello Alex, I really appreciate your help. I tried what you were saying a few times and it didn’t work. Any other ideas?
Thank you so much.
Hi Dylan,
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

Hi Dylan,
Not your fault mate. Could you send me a link to your website also? Sorry about this!

Hi Dylan,
I can’t seem to replicate this issue. Could you please link me to the page you’re working on? It might be specific to a page or layout or something like that.

Here’s the page, I try to use page builder and then Hero and any time a make a change in a frame it either doesn’t save or returns the text that came with the template.
Hi Dylan,
Unfortunately, I’m unable to replicate on the issue on that page either. Can you try replicating this on a non-public page? Non-public so it doesn’t really matter if the page gets edited dramatically or not.
Also, are you able to replicate this issue in another browser? If so, how about on another computer?
Hey Alex, I tried different browsers and computers and unfortunately I'm having the same issue. I created a test page, the password is "test". Maybe it has to do with my account?
Thank you for your persistence, Dylan
Hi Dylan,
Oddly, I was able to edit the hero text without issue (I’ve added Test to it).
Okay, so to clarify, you can’t make adjustments to the hero widget frame text, correct? Just want to ensure we’re on the same page here.
Hey Alex, yep that's the issue. I'll go to change the text in the frame and it won't save and will keep the original text or it will return a blank page with the background.
Hi Dylan,
Hm, at this point I’m unsure why this may be happening. With that said, you might be right – it might be account related. Please try editing the hero widget with the account you created me:
It works!!! When I logged on to the site origin account the frame showed up as just text instead of a bunch of html. I must have some weird setting turned on? Thank you so much for your help, my heart is floating right now.
Hi Dylan,
Glad it worked for you. Not too sure why this is happening to your account though. Hm, would it be possible for you to send me the login details for your account so I can try and replicate it? By all means, feel free to change your account password.

Hi Dylan,
Thanks – worked it out.
The issue is that you have the Visual Editor disabled. To re-enable it please navigate to WP AdminUsersYour Profile and enable the Visual Editor setting, then save.
:/
Hi Dylan,
Just logged this as a bug. You should be able to use SiteOrigin Page Builder regardless of whether you have the Visual Editor enabled or not.
Awesome, thank you for all of your help. I wish you the best on your website fixing adventures!
