Templates Instead of Hundreds of Pages ?

I love Page Builder. I think it’s a great product! It’s helped me build a really wonderful site and I couldn’t be happier with it. It has saved my bacon on more than a few occasions helping me to build and copy content over from one page to the next in seconds instead of copying and pasting content blocks. That feature alone I use on a weekly basis!

HOWEVER….(there’s always a ‘however’) the fact is that Page Builder has a usability flaw. I understand why this was done, still from a practicality stand point I’m just not seeing why we can’t have our cake and eat it too. Considering that what I’m about suggest is actually easier to do than what Page Builder does now: Actual Templates.

It would be great if Page Builder allowed you to save a page type as an actual Template, instead of saving out the entire page and contents! An actual template and then copy the structure to the page, and then allow the end user to add their content as they see fit. So the end user’s library doesn’t end up with literally hundreds of pages and instead with just a few page Templates of styles of pages, instead of well…what Page Builder is doing right now…creating a library of pages that grows by the day!

The problem is that if you have hundreds of pages, scrolling through page after page after page of ‘templates’ get’s a little tedious not to mention annoying because of how you’ve set up the page view instead of a list view. You have no page preview as it is, so why bother with it ? Shouldn’t you just show the list of possible pages ? But if you have hundreds of page templates, this gets slightly problematic because you have page through 8 or 10 pages just to find the one that you want.

It would be far easier to create a singular template and then apply that to a page!

Perhaps some people find this functionality fabulous, I find it slightly annoying. Rather than dump the functionality because I can see that it’s useful. Keep it but add to it the ability for the end user to use templates instead of copying every page type that you have!

Now to my question…if there’s a way to turn off this feature of page builder and use it in the way that I’m yapping about…then please someone enlighten me and I’ll delete this post, but I’m rather certain that I haven’t stumbled across this feature.

Thanks ahead of time and thank you for reading.
