Switch from Gutenberg to Page Builder

Hi,

Since updating to WordPress 5 and Gutenberg, I absolutely cannot find a way to switch pages or posts that are using the Classic block in Gutenberg over to use the SiteOrigin Page Builder.

How do I do this now in WordPress 5?? Where is the option???

Thanks!
Jutta

    Hi Jutta

    Thanks for reaching out.

It isn’t possible to automatically migrate Classic Editor Page Builder content to the Block Editor. It can be done manually by editing the page and clicking LayoutsImport/Export and downloading the layout which is in the form of a JSON file. The layout can be imported into a SiteOrigin Layout Block in the same way, click on LayoutsImport/Export and import the layout using the JSON file. If you were recreating a page you’d need to delete it and again from Trash/Bin to free up the permalink.

    Hi Andrew,

I think you may have misunderstood my question. Let me see if I can clarify:

    – I have draft posts that were originally made in WordPress Classic editor, before WordPress updated to version 5 with Gutenberg
    – I want to use the Page Builder now to edit and finalize those posts for publishing
    – Before WordPress 5 and Gutenberg, I could just click on the “Page Builder” tab on the editor and all the content would get pulled into the Page Builder
    – Now, I do not see a button for the Page Builder anywhere but I still want to use the Page Builder for those drafts

Let me know if there’s something I’m missing.

    Hi :) Thanks for clarifying.

The only way to convert those Block Editor pages to Classic Editor pages would be to install the Classic Editor plugin from PluginsAdd New. That would convert all pages to Classic Editor pages though. If that’s what you’d like to do then it’s an easy fix.

Other options are, within the Block Editor you can insert a SiteOrigin Layout block which is an instance of Page Builder in block form. If you want to work with Page Builder and the Blocker Editor, this would be the way.

Please, let me know if this helps.
