Hi,
I am updating my website pages and so was editing a lot of pages in the past few days. This morning, an update to the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin came through. I updated the plugin and suddenly the Edit Page/Post screen was “blank” in that it seems to load but the screen is completely blank. The error was “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error” when I inspected the page itself, for what it is worth.
So, I deactivated every plugin, switched to the Basic WordPress theme, and cleared my cache. I started activating plugins one-by-one and discovered the problem was indeed with the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin. I deactivated the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin and the Edit Page/Post screen populated as normal. Then, I activated the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin again but deactivated all of the widgets. The Edit Page/Post screen populated as normal. One by one, I activated the widgets in the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin and found it was the Layout Slider widget that was causing the Edit/Post screen not to populate.

Hi Miss M,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with the Layout Slider.
Unfortunately, I can’t seem to replicate this issue. Can you please clarify what version of PHP you’re using? If you’re not too sure, I would reach out to your hosting provider to check as they’ll be able to tell you.
Also, please enable WP_DEBUG? This can be done by editing your wp-config.php. If you need help with enabling this setting, please reach out to your hosting provider for assistance.
By enabling WP_DEBUG will allow for an error to appear on the previously blank page so once you’ve enabled it, please try replicating this issue again. Once this issue occurs, please send me a copy of the error message.
Hi Miss M, sorry for the hassle. You’re most likely using PHP 5.x.x. An immediate solution would be to contact your hosts and ask them to upgrade you to PHP 7.x.x. We’ll resolve the problem in an update to the Widgets Bundle ASAP but upgrading your server PHP version to WordPress recommended PHP 7 would be an immediate solution.
