hi, i’ve set up an SO google map widget and all working well. however, my client has asked if there’s any way of *restricting the zoom level* in any way – i.e. stopping people zooming down to street level. the map we have is a rough overview map at a country level and many of the marker points are ‘approximate’ to towns – it becomes quite misleading if users zoom down too far into the map.
any way of restricting zoom do you think? – i appreciate it’s probably a bespoke development task as the GUI settings don’t allow any min/max zoom restrictions. but any pointers on this would be useful! thanks.
Hi Chris
Thanks for posting.
If you set Gesture Handling to None, users can’t zoom but they can’t scroll either. Cooperative or Auto means that the user has to hold down a key while rotating their mouse wheel to zoom so it’s an extra step. More about the options here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/interaction#gestureHandling. Hopefully, you can settle on one that’s at least a part of the way to what you want.
