Hi! I too have been unable to use siteorigin, which we depend on in a number of ways, to update pages and add posts on our sites. None of our sites can be reverted to check for a baseline issue (I can’t deactivate plugins or themes anytime soon, as the sites have to be operating on the front end).
Are you planning on doing an update that solves this for SiteOrigin users with WordPress 5.5?
Hi Catalyst: Ed
Thanks for reaching out.
SiteOrigin plugins are working with WordPress 5.5. If there is a theme or plugin error produced on your pages it’ll break other plugins using JavaScript. If you’re unable to do baseline tests, you can check the browser console, here is how https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis. Errors will be in red text. If errors are present, check the right of the line item, there will be a filename. Hover over the filename to see the full path. That’ll let you know where the error is originating from. Do this check while editing a page. Let us know how it goes, we’ll assist from there. You can upload screenshots to imgur.com or any cloud sharing site and send us the link if you’d like to share screenshots.
Thank you for this, this is helpful! The errors I am getting are these:
1. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qFeWJaM5yVaqe78KJ9Gx3GCkveAPymRE/view?usp=sharing
The full path for this error is: debugger:///VM1331:1
2. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UCeAZay4wAMKmuamZYiXWXPwkj435uLK/view?usp=sharing
The full path for this error is: https://c0.wp.com/c/5.5/wp-includes/js/wp-auth-check.min.js:2
The second error keeps popping up again and again at the bottom the longer I stay on the page.
Hi Catalyst: Ed,
Thank you for the screenshots. Unfortunately, we haven’t come across those specific errors before so we’re not too sure why they may be occurring. Do you have a staging/development environment where a plugin conflict test can be run without it affecting your main websites?
Kind regards,
Alex
Hi Catalyst: Ed,
Can you please try installing the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin to see if that helps?
Kind regards,
Alex
I have updated themes and plugins, and nothing was changing, but that plugin worked! Thank you! Is there a point at which I should deactivate that or should I just leave it active from now on?
Super, glad to hear that helped. Without knowing where the problem or problems are originating from, it’s hard to say. You can perhaps test after plugin/theme updates in the future by temporarily deactivating the jQuery Migrate plugin.
