Search and replace for content in page builder widgets

7 years ago · Last reply by Alex S 7 years ago

Hi,

I’m trying to do a mass search and replace of text content within page builder widgets. I have a few hundred pages which are based duplicated layouts.

I have tried using Better Search and Replace plugin, searching wp_posts table, with ‘replace GUID’ box both ticked and unticked. When I run the search and replace, the instances of the text are found, and are shown to have been changed, but when I view the page (both front end and in dashboard) the content is unchanged.

Strangely, when I’m the the page editor and click the tab to switch from Page Builder back to Text View, the content shows as having changed – the change just doesn’t show while Page Builder layout is enabled.

Any ideas on how to make these search and replace changes withing the page builder content?

Many thanks

    Hi Sally,

The outlined steps you took are normal and something I’ve done dozens of times. Not too sure why it’s not working for you. Hm. Did you untick Run as dry run? If not, please untick that and try running the search and replace again. To clarify, a dry run is a preview of changes made.
