Since i’ve upgraded it seems to of the pages now has ‘Leave a reply’ and a big box to type in along with a log in button to the right? How do i remove these? I’ve looked at Settings > Discussion > uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles” – and every box is tick free? so unsure where to fix this.

    Hi Tommyallen1

The settings you’ve mentioned are only applicable to new posts. For existing posts or pages, go to the page, click Screen Options top right, enable Discussion, the scroll down to the Discussion box and ensure the checkboxes are disabled.

Hey Andrew it would seem all of the ‘Leave a reply’ has gone as I removed it from the HTML – but for some weird reason the ‘Contacts’ page still has ‘Leave a reply’ at the bottom – every other page doesn’t ?????? Ive checked the Screen options and everything is un ticked – where am I missing?

    Hi, I Work Here

Glad to hear you’re making progress.

Keep in mind that all WordPress themes completely overwrite themselves during theme updates. If you made changes to theme files directly, without using a child theme, they won’t survive an update. A child theme is necessary to do this correctly.

You shouldn’t have to edit any files for comments though. The usual method:

    Page: Disable WordPress Comments

    Or this plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-comments/

    Should be enough.

    All the best :)
