Profile Card Widget takes a while to edit

I believe the newest update to SiteOrigin is causing loading/editing issues with the profile card widget. I am using the profile card widget to display a staff feed on this page – https://www.neafoundation.org/who-we-are/about-us/staff/

The profile card widget is functioning properly. The frustrating thing is when I want to edit the widget, say add a new staff member to the feed, it takes forever to load. I timed it and it takes about 5 minutes for the editing box to display. The rest of the widgets on the site load the editing box just fine. It’s just the profile card widget that takes a while.

I would appreciate your help with this. I’ve already made a copy of the site to the staging environment and am happy to send credentials so you can investigate it further. I’m also happy to send screenshots as well. Thank you!

    Hi Cathy

    Thanks for reaching out.

    A few things you can try:

    * Switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen. Deactivate all plugins except for those authored by SiteOrigin and the profile card plugin. Does the issue persist in this state?
    * Are there any useful console errors in red text when the issue occurs? https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis

    Unfortunately, there are no console errors. I think the issue is actually tied to WordPress core updates. Using the WP Downgrade plugin, the last release where the loading did not take forever was WordPress 5.5.5

    So WordPress 5.6 and above is when the loading issues for the profile card widget happens.

    Thanks for the update. If you reach out to the card author you can first try the following:

    * Upgrade to WP 5.7.2.
    * Create a test page with just the cards in place, no other content.
    * Temporarily switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen.
    * Temporarily deactivate all plugins except for the card plugin.

    Check to see if the issue persists in the above state. That would be a solid baseline test to see if there is a theme or plugin conflict involved.
