Post Carousel Widget have clunky and inconsistent behaviour on mobile view

Hi SiteOrigin Support Team,

I found a couple of problems in the Post Carousel Widget in mobile view, as displayed in your ‘Corp demo home page’

The following problems exhibit when browsing the page using FireFox v68.5.0 on Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android v9.
1. clunky swiping on mobile view, e.g.:
1.1 a single swipe might scroll more than 1 items, depending on the speed of swipe
1.2 swiping feels a bit sticky?

2. cannot scroll the page (vertical scroll) if the swipe is started from a carousel item

3. the swipe needs to more or less cover the whole width of a carousel item to work
(e.g. if a swipe on covers only half of the width of an item, the item will bounce back after the finger is lifted.)

Similar issues also exhibit when browsing using Safari on iPhone.

Problems ‘1’ and ‘2’ does not exhibit when browsing using Chrome on aforementioned Samsung Galaxy S8 device.

Thank you,

Best regards,
Eric

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for your feedback. I’ve been able to replicate the Firefox specific issues you mentioned. The touch detection JS library we’re using isn’t the most recent version so I suspect the issues you’re experiencing on Firefox may be resolved automatically by updating that. I’m going to try updating it shortly and seeing if that helps with the Firefox issues. I’ll also run some tests to see if I can improve how much scrolling is required to proceed to the next item.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Eric

Thanks for reaching out. Kindly, see the comments from Alex in the Pull Request for this update via the link below.

The updated jquery.touchSwipe.js library will be included in the next SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle update. You could also try the Post Carousel widget from Livemesh to see if you perhaps prefer it. https://wordpress.org/plugins/livemesh-siteorigin-widgets/.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Eric, thanks for your understanding. We have updated the jquery.touchSwipe.js library which the carousel uses, the update will be included in the next release of the Widgets Bundle. The update didn’t solve all issues raised, you can read the feedback from Alex in the Pull Request https://github.com/siteorigin/so-widgets-bundle/pull/1000. The LiveMesh Post Carousel is an alternative. Thanks again.
