PHP version
Hello community,
After the issues yesterday I asked my hoster to update the PHP version of the server my website is hosted on. They stated that they updated it as far as it could, since the Vantage theme is only compatible with PHP version 7.4.33.
I want the website to be as up-to-date as possible and wanted to ask the community: does anyone have the Vantage theme running on PHP 8.5.12 without any issues? Or where can I find the PHP version the theme is compatible with?
Thanks in advance!

1Hi Maikel
Thanks for checking. We develop and test Vantage on PHP 8.3, so you should be safe to move up. Your host may have seen the Requires PHP line in the theme’s readme. That is the minimum version, not the maximum.
The current version is Vantage 1.20.33. You can check your version under Appearance > Themes. If you are on an older copy, it would be worth updating first. If your site still runs Vantage Premium, which stopped receiving updates in 2018, please switch to the free Vantage theme from the WordPress.org theme directory. It includes almost all of the Vantage Premium settings and is kept up to date.
PHP 8.5 is quite new, so no theme or plugin has had long testing on it yet. PHP 8.3 or 8.4 would be a safe step for now. If your host lets you switch versions, try moving up, then load a few pages and the admin to check all is well. If anything looks wrong, you can switch back and let us know what you see.
Before changing the PHP version, please update Vantage and all plugins to the latest release, and take a backup.
Kind regards
Andrew
