pages load weird; see lower images first before correct images settle

9 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 9 years ago

Hi! I’m using PageBuilder with North theme, and I notice whenever I open pagebuilder pages in my site, I always first see other images from the page trying to load – real quick, but since they are colored it’s very obvious … then the page seems to ‘settle’ and it looks the way it’s supposed to, with the top images showing on top (versus the flashing-by-real-quick images are from lower within the page trying to load)

Can anyone help me fix this? My site: happyhealthyfactoids.com <– home page; click on header to get to Home page…you can see what I'm talkning about.

Thanks!

    Hi Barb

    Your page loads seems normal on my side. Which browser are you testing with?

    I’m using chrome… what are you using? I’m curious

    Chrome too. Which pages are you seeing a problem with besides the home page?

    My test home page (currently a sub-menu under main menu Products tab): http://happyhealthyfactoids.com/pb-real-home-page/

    At this point, jumping seems much less than it was. I’ve inserted the following css code per a different support request [it’s now closed]

    @media (min-width: 489px){
    .site-branding {
    height: 131px;
    }

    #panel-553-0-0-0 .so-widget-sow-hero {
    min-height: 387px;
    }
    }

    The above code seemed to help a lot, plus an explanation that the underlying issue is related to something called ‘DOM” (I think I remember that phrase right), which is some kind of internet software/process of page loading <– I'm writing this explanation not for you, Andrew, but for my fellow members who may want to know this if they're interested in this thread). Also – I update many of my images on this test home page from 'hero images' to regular images. Can't tell which of these changes made the most difference, but … overall 'jumpiness' is greatly reduced now. Oh, I also changed top hero image size to a height of "50% of 387px" – don't know if that helped; I did that for page appearrance, not jumpy-or-not reasons. Still, if you check this new 'test home page' link on my site, on my end I see the 2nd row of images pop up first before screen settles…correctly. If there is any way to stop ALL jumping, without losing load speed, I'm still interested. Thanks!

    Thanks for the update.

    The Positively Healthy image does load before the New Two Step Process row, I see that. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything I can do from a support side to change the DOM order. What I’ll do is log a general issue report to ask our devs to ensure the DOM load order matches the visual order.

    I doubt you’re on a slow connection, mine isn’t amazing but decent, the faster the connection the less this is noticeable.

    I appreciate your information, Andrew, plus the fact that you will go ahead and add this to the general issues log. I consider this question / thread closed from my perspective – thank you so much for staying with this to get me to this understanding.

    Take care –

    Barb
