Page builder not supporting HTML and shortcode on pages in Vantage theme

Hello,

I’ve read pretty much all threads in relation to HTML or shortcode and page builder hiccups. No solutions seemed to work.

Here is my problem.
when I use “”custom HTML widget”” or “”site origin editor”” in sidebar, everything works fine for both HTLM and Shortcode. But when I try the exact same thing in a page then each time I use HTMl the same result: “page not found”. If I use shortcode, it doesn’t crash the page but it just shoes the code has text on the published public page. Just using the widgets, but with empty field, without HTML, doesn’t crash the site. It’s just when I past HTML code.

Here is what I’ve done so far.
Read every thread on the subject … no luck
Tryed pasting html code in the “”text widget”” (in the text tab)… no luck
Emptied my browser cache (from beginning of time), each time before every next steps written here… no luck
Tryed but found no cache on my server (x10 hosting) … no luck
deactivate all plugins except siteorigins ones … no luck
Tryed to use “Black Studio TinyMCE Widget” to past HTML … no luck

Every time the same result: “page not found” for HTML and text shown for the shortcode.

Having tryed the “”text widget”” or “”custom html widget”” or the “”siteorigin editor widget”” in so many permutation and still no luck.

To proceed in building my website I will have to use HTML coding in pages. (but sinc I don’t know how to code HTML, I will need the page builder and widgets to proceed)

PLEASE help!
After two weeks of work I’m getting desperate

greetings,

jocelyn Morettini

    Hi Jocelyn,

    I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re having. We haven’t really come across this type of issue (the vast majority of issues are as a result of shortcodes adding additional formatting on output) before so we’re not too sure on the cause of this issue, but I suspect the server is rejecting the data you’re pasting.

    To clarify, does this happen for any data you paste or only for specific HTML? If it’s only for a specific HTML, what is the HTML? If you’re not too sure, try copying and pasting the following HTML into an editor:

    <div class="example">
    	<h4>Header<h4>
    	This is a <strong>test</strong>

    </div>

    How does that look?

    Hello Alex

    Thanks for your reply
    Could you forget all the problems with shortcode. I've got no more issues now. I tried to amend my posting but couldn't… sorry.

    I've pasted your html code and it went fine.

    But when I use the html provided by mailchimp or thinkific it's always the same result.

    Here is the html snippet from thinkific
    And I really need to find a solution since I want to install those sales widget on my site to sell my webinars.

    <div class="thinkific-product-card" 7-btn-txt="Suivre le cours"
    data-btn-txt-color="#ffffff" data-btn-bg-color="#1b9eea"
    data-card-type="card" data-link-type="checkout" data-product="188485"
    data-embed-version="0.0.2" data-card-txt-color="#7d7d7d"
    data-card-bg-color="#ffffff" data-store-url="
    https://courses.thinkific.com/embeds/products/show"><div class="iframe-container"></div><script type="text/javascript">document.getElementById("thinkific-product-embed")
    || document.write('<script id="thinkific-product-embed"
    type="text/javascript" src="
    https://assets.thinkific.com/js/embeds/product-cards-client.min.js">&lt;\/script>');</script><noscript><a href="https://jocelyn-morettini.thinkific.com/enroll/188485?et=free&quot;
    target="_blank">Suivre le cours</a></noscript></div>

    I have no background in html.

    But when I use beaver page builder or elementor page builder… it works fine.

    The only problem is that I have to redo all my pages formating since I'm losing siteorigin page builder pluggin. So I would prefer staying with you guys

    Hope you can fix the issue

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Jocelyn,

    Thanks. I just tried the provided HTML and it worked without issue. As such, I strongly suspect your hosting provider is rejecting the data for whatever reason. Can you please add the HTML line by line until the issue occurs? (add a line, save, if issue doesn’t occur, add the next line – repeat)

    Hello Alex

    Thanks for the update.

    I could try that but don't you find it peculiar that other page builders do it without issue but when it comes to your pluggin it doesn't. So my 10x hosting would accept this html with beaver page builder or with elementor but when done by your pluggin my host then would change its behavior and refuse it. I'm not a professional but it seems a bit odd to say it's my hosting service. Am I wrong in this logic?

    Hi Jocelyn,

    Page Builders handle data in different ways, so it’s not all that weird this issue is only affecting us and it’s still very possible that your hosting provider is rejecting the data based on how we handle the data.

    Please try the previously suggested test to work out which line is causing you problems.

    Ok
    I'll do that

    Hello Again,

    So I've done what you ask.

    It start's to bug at this line : </div><script type="text/javascript">

    But I've also retried your test HTML. And surprise, it works fine in a page but not in a post. I've used custom HTML widget, and cleared cache each time.

    That's a new problem also.

    Hopes this help with your diagnosis

    Hi Jocelyn,

    But I’ve also retried your test HTML. And surprise, it works fine in a page but not in a post. I’ve used custom HTML widget, and cleared cache each time.

    That points even more at it being the server rejecting it. To clarify, WordPress pages and posts are created using the same code – they’re both post types. In other words, there’s no real reason that it should work without issue for one and it aligns with a false positive due to how inconsistent the error issue.

    Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and make a backup of your website to confirm if this is a server issue?

    Hello

    There you go. It's it's done.

    Thanks for the close follow up

  12. 4 years, 1 month ago Alex S Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jocelyn,

    I can confirm that the server is rejecting the data. I would recommend reaching out to your hosting provider and ask if you’re getting flagged by something like mod_security and if you are, if it’s possible to whitelist you.

  13. 4 years, 1 month ago Jocelyn Morettini

    Hello Alex,

    I've looked with my hosting service and they only offer the option to toggle the modsecurity off if only on a premium plan. It's a recurring cost forever in the situation that I don't have any revenu stream coming from my website yet. If you say that it's not something you can modify on your end then I will have to use the other page builders out there since I have tested that it works fine with two other page builders.

    If you feel that there's an update coming soon that might adresse that then
    I'll wait for it.

    Thanks for all your help
    It's been greatly appreciated

    Hi Jocelyn,

    Unfortunately, this isn’t something we can actively work towards preventing as we’re unsure of the exact filter (which admittedly is a false positive) that your hosting company is using that’s flagging the SiteOrigin Page Builder data. Can you please get in contact with your hosting provider to ask what filter is flagging us?
