Page Builder by SiteOrigin and Yoast Seo Plugin

Good Day, maybe someone can help with this.
After recent updates I’ve just noticed Yoast SEO plugin is not working with any pages that I have previously built with page builder by SiteOrigin. The section for Yoast SEO on these pages, just continues to show a green circle constantly revolving, and there is no access to reviewing these sections, the focus keyword and snippet are showing but you can not click in these sections to make changes or etc.. as soon as I try to do that, it jumps to a section ‘excerpts’ and the other tabs are not usable.

Also, creating a new page with page builder, Yoast SEO section is there but usable, same as what I mentioned above.

If I go to other pages, that I did ‘not’ build using page builder, the Yoast SEO section is working fine.

FYI: I have the Page Builder by SiteOrign, and SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.
Wordpress and Plugins are all up to date.

If someone can help that would be great! thank you!

Sorry, Also ‘posts’ existing and or create a post, have no sections for Yoast SEO whether I use page builder or not. I don’t actually use posts at this time, but still… It’s a mystery!

  2. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Oops sorry again, actually Posts have the same problem, with the constant circle revolving in the yoast seo section. same as what I mentioned for pages. Thanks. I’ll keep trying to figure it out.

    Hi Jo

    Thanks for reaching out.

The spinning icon indicates a possible plugin conflict. Please, try to establish a working baseline. If you temporarily deactivate all plugins except for those authored by Yoast and SiteOrigin, does the issue resolve?

  4. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

    Hi Andrew,
thank you! I should have thought of that… and yes your suggestion worked fine.
It was a plugin necessary for my website theme from Devclick. The plugin is called Advanced Custom Fields Pro. I have sent them a support request to resolve the issue. Thank you so much for replying. All the best,
    Jo.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. We use ACF Pro with Yoast so it might be worth confirming the conflict. You can do so as follows:

    1. Temporarily switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen to rule out theme issues.
    2. Deactivate all plugins except for Yoast, ACF and ACF Pro. Does the issue occur? If not, try activating SiteOrigin plugins next, does the issue occur?

  6. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Hi Andrew, I followed what you suggested.
Step 1. switched the theme to Twenty Nineteen, same issue.
    Step 2. on my theme:
Deactivated all plugins except for Yoast and ACF Pro. All worked out fine!
Next, I added / activated SiteOrgin Plugins: first one, Site Origin Widgets Bundle, checked it, and All was fine.
after that I added / activated Page Builder by SiteOrgin, and it created the same issue I’m trying to resolve.
    Thanks, Jo.

Thanks, let us know how it goes.

Good Morning! Here is what I have found in the console.

    In the Yellow exclamation marks:
A cookie associated with a cross-site resource at http://wordpress.com/ was set without the `SameSite` attribute. It has been blocked, as Chrome now only delivers cookies with cross-site requests if they are set with
`SameSite=None` and `Secure`. You can review cookies in developer tools under Application>Storage>Cookies and see more details at

    In the Red x section:
WebSocket connection to 'wss://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghu ?v=2.0:6 b/wpcom/me/newest-note-data' failed: Error during WebSocket handshake:
    Unexpected response code: 403 g @ ?v=2.0:6
    T @ ?v=2.0:6 j @ ?v=2.0:6

    In the Issues section:

    1. Indicate whether to send a cookie in a cross-site request by specifying its SameSite attribute
Because a cookie's SameSite attribute was not set or is invalid, it defaults to SameSite=Lax, which prevents the cookie from being sent in a cross-site request. This behavior protects user data from accidentally leaking to third parties and cross-site request forgery.

Resolve this issue by updating the attributes of the cookie:
Specify SameSite=None and Secure if the cookie should be sent in cross-site requests. This enables third-party use.
Specify SameSite=Strict or SameSite=Lax if the cookie should not be sent in cross-site requests

Sorry, I forgot to add that I still wouldn’t know what to do with this information, and I don’t understand how this would relate to plugins that I questioned earlier. Have a nice day!

  14. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Hi Andrew, maybe this will help somehow.

This morning I tried to create a ‘page’ using page builder, and when I went to the Yoast seo section, I started to type inside the fields and the section went blank, I could only see and click on the 3 tabs which also didn’t open the actual tab section. Anyhow, then I saved the draft, went back to open it, and I see the Yoast SEO green circles revolving, I clicked inside one of the areas, the Yoast section went blank, this applies to both using regular editor and / or page builder..

And fyi, creating a ‘post’ there are no option to use page builder and it’s also not available in the screen options. but it seems that yoast works okay with regular editor in ‘posts’… since the other option isn’t there.

Well it’s a mystery! I’m still trying .. bye. Have a nice day!
    Jo.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the updates.

Try going to SettingsPage Builder, check if Posts are enabled, that might be way Page Builder isn’t available when adding a new post.

Please, could you try emailing ACF, send them the console screenshot, and ask if they know what might be causing that and if it can be resolved?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jo,

We’ve recently made a bunch of changes to improve our Yoast SEO compatibility. It’s possible one of those changes could have caused this issue. Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? This will allow me to run some tests using the Yoast SEO Compatability code – the biggest test being preventing the script to see if it’s a complete conflict.

You can create the account with the following email address:

    Private Snippet

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and Private Snippet for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

  18. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Okay I will do that, can you confirm what email address I should send this to? You can send it directly to my email address.
    Thank you,
    Jo.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jo,

Thanks. I was able to rule out our SEO compatibility code.
The version of Advanced Custom Fields Pro you’re using is quite outdated. You’re using 5.7.12, and the latest version is 5.8.14. It’s possible this issue was already fixed in a newer version of Advanced Custom Fields Pro. Can you please try updating Advanced Custom Fields Pro to see if that helps?

    Kind regards,
    Alex

  26. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Hi Alex, Thank you for checking everything out for me. The Advance Custom Fields Plugin came with the theme from devclick.uk. When I first purchased the theme, I brought that plugin to their attention because the plugin showed there was a newer version, and the person in support at Devclick ‘Paul’ told me it was okay, that it didn’t need to be updated and it would be updated whenever the theme gets an update that was probably 1 year ago. Anyhow, just a few days ago I sent 2 messages to support at Devclick and have heard nothing back!
I can’t update that plugin without a licence which I guess they have.

Also, were you able to sign into my site?

  28. 4 years, 1 month ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Jo, Alex was able to log in.

I’m not sure if we checked this. Do you have both Advanced Custom Fields and Advanced Custom Fields PRO activated? If so, does the issue persist if you deactivate ACF Pro only and leave the free version activated?

  29. 4 years, 1 month ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Ahh ok ACF Pro is an independent plugin. https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/upgrade-guide-acf-pro/#:~:text=Do%20I%20need%20both%20ACF,any%20ACF%20premium%20add%2Dons.

  30. 4 years, 1 month ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Jo, are you sure ACF Pro is needed. I don’t see any fields added when I go to Custom FieldsField Groups. Is there any change to your site if deactivate ACF Pro?

  31. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Hi Andrew, I only have the ACF Pro, this came with the theme, and needs to be updated with a licence number (by Devclick.uk)
When I deactivate that plugin it does solve the Yoast SEO problem, in the page section.

But if I keep it deactivated, the image slider on my homepage disappears and the Portfolio section, View Portfolio, all the images disappear. I’m not sure if anything else changes, I haven’t looked through the site completely.

FYI: The ‘posts’ (not pages) doesn’t have option to use page builder.

  32. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

what I mean is, if you view portfolio, and click on an image to go to that part of the portfolio section, all the images in that particular section disappears. if disable the ACF Pro plugin.
Also the images and slider on the home page.

  33. 4 years, 1 month ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Try deactivating ACF Pro, go to PluginsAdd New, search for and install Advanced Custom Fields. Does the slider issue resolve?

Go to SettingsPage Builder to choose which post types to enable Page Builder.

  34. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Hi Andrew, I did go to settings page builder, both posts and pages are enabled.
(if I disable the pro one, I also loose all the images at the top header of each pages)
Okay, I’ll check out your suggestion re: ACF plugin right now, and see.

  35. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Okay I deactivated the ACF pro installed the ACF and activated that one, and yes, I loose the homepage images /slider and the portfolio section of the website, images in the individual portfolio sections disappear leaving only some type of error codes (?) in place of images.
So I guess ACF Pro is required for this theme.

  36. 4 years, 1 month ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks, you can reactivate ACF Pro and delete ACF. Ideally, you’d test with a current version of ACF Pro to see if that resolves the Yoast issue.

Your posts are in the Block Editor. If you want to use the Block Editor you’d have to insert a SiteOrigin Layout Block. Alternatively, you can install the Classic Editor plugin to force those Block Editor posts into the Classic Editor where the Page Builder tab will be an option.

  37. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Yes, if I could get the update version with the licence from devclick.uk I could see if that resolves the yoast plugin issues.
I left a message on support ACF Pro, asking if they could contact Devclick to have them update the plugin. and I left another message on Devclick support section,
and I left a message on the support section of Terri – Construction WordPress Theme by Devclick, through Themeforest.net. It’s very frustrating at this point.

I want to thank you for all that you have tried to do to help me, I appreciate it. If and when I get a response from any of the above and receive an updated ACF pro, I’ll let you know if that worked.. Thanks again! Enjoy a nice day!
    Jo.

    Hi, I Work Here

For sure, no problem, let us know how it goes.

I have tested with Yoast, ACF Pro current version, and Page Builder and all seems to be normal. I wasn’t using your theme though.

  39. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Yes, I do think it’s the ACF Pro Plugin. I just need to get Devclick to update it, something that should be so simple for them to do.
    Jo.

  40. 4 years, 1 month ago Jo Val

Good Day! I thought you’d like to know that Paul from Devclick provided an update to my theme replacing the older version of ACF Pro with the latest version of ACF Pro plugin and now everything is fine!! The Yoast SEO section in page builder pages, is back to normal now.
    Have a nice day.
    Jo.
