Page Builder by SiteOrigin 2.34.4 breaks Post Loop category filtering; 2.34.3 works
Hi SiteOrigin team,
I wanted to report a regression I’m seeing with Page Builder by SiteOrigin 2.34.4.
On my WP Multisite site, the Post Loop / Blog widget category filtering stops saving or stops working correctly after updating from 2.34.3 to 2.34.4. I confirmed that rolling back to 2.34.3 immediately fixes the issue, so this appears to be a version regression in 2.34.4.
What happens
In the Page Builder editor, I can open the Post Loop widget and change the category filter.
The page itself still saves normally if I’m not editing that widget.
But the category filter settings in the widget do not persist correctly in 2.34.4.
As a result, the widget does not reliably show the expected category-filtered posts.
What I tested
No cache plugin is active.
The issue is isolated to the SiteOrigin widget.
The same page saves successfully when I remove or avoid editing the SiteOrigin Post Loop widget.
Reverting to 2.34.3 restores the expected behavior.
Environment
WordPress page editor with Page Builder by SiteOrigin
Post Loop / Blog widget
Category filtering enabled
Issue reproduced on the same theme as well, so this does not appear to be theme-specific
Expected behavior
Category filtering in the Post Loop widget should save and persist normally after updating the page.
Actual behavior
In 2.34.4, the category filter appears to break, while 2.34.3 works correctly.
Thanks for looking into this — it looks like a regression introduced in 2.34.4.

2Hi Joel
Thanks for all the details.
We’re working on a solution. Some fields weren’t ready for the additional sanitization introduced in the most recent Page Builder release. Rolling back or setting the filtering value before saving the page works. I’ll keep you updated. Apologies for the hassle!
Hi Joel, please, find the first beta release here. Testing is ongoing but the primary issue, filtering, is resolved via the version linked here. If you’re able to give it a go, please, install the ZIP file from PluginsAdd NewUpload Plugin and let me know how you get on.
Thanks
Andrew
