Origami – Plug ins post excerpt and font size

Hello,

I took the premium Origami Theme to be free to change things as I want in this theme, that I’ve almost finish to do. Only 2 things are me :

1. How can I do to have posts excerpt in my home page ? and also in my pages ?
-> I explain :
As you can see on my website, I put in my menu pages called Culture / Voyages / Gourmandise, in each of them, I put my categories with the same names with # in front of them.
I’d like to have my posts excerpt with the possibility to insert “read more” in the page of each category.
Is it possible ? and how can i do ? I’ve tried to download pug-ins but it doesn’t work.

2. Font size for the body
I’ve tried to change it in Custom CSS but it doesn’t work. Could you explain to me how to do this ?

Please help, the conception of my blog is almost finished !!

PS : by the way, Page builder widget is awesome !

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi fenomene

    Try inserting the following under Appearance > Custom CSS and adjusting as required to change the content font size:

    /* Origami adjust content font size */

    .content p, .content ul, .content ol, .content dl {
    font-size: 16px !important;
    }

    We do currently have a bug with the read more link in Origami. Here is a child theme you can try:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/origami-child-fix-read-more.zip

    Install via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload. You will need to redo Appearance > Customize and Appearance > Menus settings if this child theme works for you.

    After activating try using a Post Loop widget via Page Builder on your home page. Also ensure that your posts have a More Tag: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ to split up content. In that way you can run excerpts. You can also use the Post Loop widget for your blog page if you’d like, just insert it via the Page Builder tab.

    Hello Andrew,

    1/ Font size typo with Custom CSS : OK, checked !

    2/ How can I change size typo of menu writing ? (sorry, as you’ve seen I’m a beginner)

    3/ “Read more” link :
    – the child theme doesn’t work. I put it via Filezilla in the file you noticed (wp-content/uploads/2014/08) as a .zip file. Then, I’ve tried to install it via Appearance > Themes > Add New:Upload but found 75 themes… Maybe I’ve done wrong, huh ???
    But doesn’t mind, I found a plug-ins very good called “Auto excerpt everywhere”, there is some little bugs but it is ok for my website.

    4 / Post Loop widget doesn’t work on my home page.

    5/ Could you tell me also for the Shareaholic plug-in ? it doesn’t work on Origami theme….

    Thanks for your patience ;)

    Hi, I Work Here

    2. Insert the following under Appearance >Custom CSS to edit the menu font size in Origami:

    /* Origami change menu font size */

    #menu ul {
    font-size: 20px;
    }

    3. Glad you found a solution there. For reference purposes, a child theme ZIP file can be installed without FileZilla. Just download the ZIP to your desktop and install from Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload and upload the ZIP off your desktop.

    4. What happens when you add the Post Loop widget to your home page?

    5. I unfortunately haven’t done any testing at this stage with Shareaholic. You could perhaps try:

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-facebook-twitter-share-buttons/

    Let me know if I missed anything.

    2. OK : checked

    3. It doesn’t work. I can not find the zip file, i only see some other themes.

    4. It is External Server Error except for Post ml-slider who show me only the keyword I entered for each articles.

    5. I’ve finally upload a plugins called “WP socializer” because I’ve needed the Viadeo icon, which is Linkedin french version. thanks anyway.
    NB : I noticed a bug with your social setting (in Theme settings), it works only in responsive, when I see my website on my mobile phone but not working on my computer…

    So, there is only the problem for the posts excerpt on homepage (with picture thumbnail needed), I’m going to search a plugins but if you have another advice, please let me know.

    Hi, I Work Here

    3. The ZIP file is here: http://siteorigin.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/origami-child-fix-read-more.zip. You need to download that to your Desktop and then upload via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme. You must click Upload Theme.

    Here is a tutorial showing how to upload a theme: https://siteorigin.com/basics/updating-theme-from-zip/. This isn’t necessary if you’ve found another solution though.

    Hi, I Work Here

    4. This sounds like it might a plugin conflict. Try running through the steps outlined here to resolve: https://siteorigin.com/troubleshooting/identifying-plugin-conflicts/.

    5. We don’t currently have a bug logged for this at the moment. If you would like us to attend we’d need to look at the post sharing icons without any other plugins active. If you’ve found a plugin you’re happy with we can leave this.

    Thanks

    3. Thank you I better understand now and it works. I’m using now the child theme. Does it mean I’m not in premium edition anymore ? and does it mean also I won’t have the future updates to the theme ?
    ps : anyway, except fonts which are ok, the post loop doesn’t work and more tag don’t work on this child theme.

    4. Maybe in reference to my ps below, I’ll try to reseolve plugin issues, thanks for the tip.

    5. ok, thanks anyway

    ps : you can closed this ticket

    Hi, I Work Here

    You’re still running the premium parent theme, the child theme is just a safe way to add a little code to that parent theme. You’ll still receive updates to the parent theme.

    Please send through a set of temporary login details to [email protected] with a link to this thread so I can reference the email and I’ll take a look at the more tag issue.

    Thanks!
