North Theme – how to save Customization Before Updating Theme????

By learning2, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

Is there anyway to save the Customized Settings? I just updated the Theme today and ALL was lost. Spent 3 hours getting most of my settings redone.

Where can I find the Customized settings performed through the Customize Theme area?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Learning,

I’m very sorry to hear about this! I’m so sorry!

To clarify, by customization, do you mean WP AdminAppearanceCustomize or did you make adjustments to the core theme file?

If it’s the former, this definitely shouldn’t have happened. I’m unsure why this may have happened but you should be able to use a plugin like Customizer Export/Import to back up your customizer settings.

I’m going to run some tests to try and replicate this issue.

If it’s the latter, that’s sadly by WordPress design. To avoid this from happening in the future you’ll need to use a child theme. Here’s a basic child theme for SiteOrigin North – copy over the files you wish to make adjustments too and they’ll be retained on update.
