I just recently logged in to make some edits on a website I manage and noticed that when I try to edit content within an Editor widget, when I click Edit, the editor only shows me the Title and the HTML within the content area. There is no TinyMCE editor.
All plugin and WordPress are up to date. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the plugins, but nothing seems to solve the issue.
WordPress 5.4
Page Builder by SiteOrigin 2.10.15
SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle 1.16.0
Any suggestions?
Hi, thanks for posting your question.
When editing your user account under the Users menu item in WordPress, is the Visual Editor setting disabled?
Hi Andrew,
No, the Visual Editor is not disabled for my account.
Thanks for checking.
Please, try a quick test to see if a working baseline can be found. If you temporarily deactivate all plugins not authored by SiteOrigin, does the issue resolve?
I thought of that as well. I disabled all plugin except for Page Builder by SiteOrigin and SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle. I still have the same issue. If I try to edit a simple Editor Widget, all I get is html with no TinyMCE editor.
Thanks for the update. The next step would be to check for JS errors, here is how https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis, scroll down to find your browser. If errors (in red) a present, screenshot, upload to imgur.com (or similar) and send us the link.
Well, this got me a bit further. The editor widget works fine in Google Chrome. It’s not working in Safari though. Not seeing any javascript errors in Chrome, only Safari.
Safari Version 13.1 (14609.1.20.111.8)

Thanks, glad to hear you’re making some progress.
You might try:
* Clear Safari’s cache, any change?
* Temporarily deactivate any browser extensions you may have installed in Safari, any change?
Finally, some users have had success in resolving similar issues by adding to their WordPress
wp-config.php
file:define( 'CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false );
Just below the
define( 'DB_HOST' )
line.wp-config.php
is a file in your WordPress root folder. It can be accessed using an FTP program or your Hosting File Manager if you don’t normally work with FTP.Reference: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-ftp-to-upload-files-to-wordpress-for-beginners/
Fixed! Looks like it was a cache issue in Safari. Thank you for the help Andrew!
Super, that’s great news.
If questions arise in the future, please, let us know.
Cheers for now.
