New Block Format button not available – How do I migrate?

10 months ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 10 months ago

I’m trying to migrate to the new block format in the Appearance/Widgets area, but it’s telling me I need to “Please contact your site administrator to migrate this block.” There is no button to start the migration. This is labeled “Legacy SiteOrigin Widget.” How do I manage this? I can’t edit the existing footer widgets until I do, I assume.

Hi, thanks for posting your question.

Do you perhaps know what WordPress version you’re using and what your user role is? The WordPress version should be listed in the footer of WordPress once logged in. Regarding your role, is it listed as Administrator when viewing yourdomain.com//wp-admin/users.php

Thanks for getting back to me!

WordPress version is 6.7.2 and I am an admin.

The blue buttons were there, but I wanted to do some research first, after which, the buttons were replaced with "Please contact your site administrator to migrate this block."

Hi Dee, thanks for those details. Does the admin permissions check perhaps resolve if you log out and log back in again?

No, it doesn't. I've logged in as two different admins, using my desktop and my phone. I've tried clearing the cache. Same results.

Thanks for checking. I don’t know that we’ve encountered the conditions and error combination you’ve described but it’s possible the issue is resolved in the release due out later this week. If you’d like to try that release now you can download the ZIP file here. Once the ZIP file is on your desktop, it can be installed from PluginsAdd NewUpload Plugin.

Thank you! I'll give that a try later today and get back to you.

That seems to have worked! I installed the beta and migrated the plugin and it's working as before now, thank you!
