Moving the Menu?

Hi there,

Is there a way I can move the menu or add a better navigation to my site? At the moment my logo (header image) overlaps the Menu button and it doesn’t look that great.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Max.

    Hi Max

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

Mmm, that shouldn’t be happening. Just out of interest, if you go to AppearanceCustomizeTheme Settings, is Menu Overlaps Slider enabled? If so, disable it and re-check. Thanks.

That option wasn’t ticked, but now I’ve ticked it, then unticked and then ticked again – has anything changed?

    Hi, I Work Here

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. The problem is being created in your Custom CSS. If your remove position header static and the negative top margin you have for content it should be fine.

Ah – but I don’t want that top bar to follow me when I scroll the page.

Is it possible to have the best of both worlds, the header staying at the top of the page, and the menu button not to fly in front of everything?

I appreciate the help you are giving here Andrew.

    Hi, I Work Here

Sure. Influence only has a side drawer menu, it’s a big part of the theme. If you’d like a regular menu then we’d recommend North or Vantage:

    Theme: North
Theme: Free, multi-purpose, responsive WordPress theme from SiteOrigin

Influence doesn’t have the option to turn the sticky header off, it should, I’ll log a feature request for that now.

Thanks for helping out with this – but I really do prefer the current them I have.

Do you know of any alternatives to this? Is there no way, even editing the CSS to have that menu work? Maybe display the button underneath like it does on mobile?

    Thanks for this – Max.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Sure, I can appreciate that.

We do our best to help out where possible but unfortunately can’t offer custom development support. Wish we could but it isn’t viable given our overall setup. I have logged a request to introduce a setting to turn off the sticky header in Influence but it’ll take a month or so for that to be completed given the workload already assigned. You can safely customise Influence using Custom CSS and a child theme for any PHP changes required. Codeable are our recommended WordPress outsourcing firm if you’d like to consider third-party help. We also hire via upwork.com so that’s another service you might consider.
