MetaSlider stuck

By Markyroson, 8 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 8 years ago.

Hello, no matter what I try, I cannot get the metaslider on the front of my side to change. I have even set it to ‘None’ but to still have the demo one play when there should be nothing at all? This is getting annoying that I cannot change it whatso ever?

Please help!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Markyroson,

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and Meta Slider and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue. Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

If the above doesn’t help. Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Markyroson,

Could you please try navigating to WP AdminAppearanceHome Page and then click, Edit as Page.

Then find the Meta Slider Box and set it to none (or change it to a different slide).

    Does that work for you?

Hi there! Thank you for the help. That did work. I wonder why the way through Appearance->Customize does not work. It is the one shown in every single tutorial I have seen and worked for them.

Also, what size of image is recommended for the meta slider? I clearly do not have it on my site (see private reply for address).

        Hi, I Work Here

        Hi Markyroson,

Sadly that setting looks to be bugged. :( This will definitely be resolved in the next update!

If you’re intending to have a full-width slider, the bigger the better (anything over 1920px is a bit overkill). If you’re not, at least aim for 1080px width.

How tall would you advise it?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Markyroson,

At least 500px but more would be preferred.

As you saw on my site, I had too large of an image?

        Hi, I Work Here

        Hi Markyroson,

It’s hard to tell without adjusting it. Please note that responsive background images (which is what that is) have a “feature” where it’ll maintain aspect ratio and to do this it’ll clip the image. The best you can do to avoid this would be to have a play around with your dimensions to try one that works with your images. There’s nothing more I can really suggest; just use values higher than I’ve specified.

This isn’t something that can be disabled sadly. :(

            Hi, I Work Here

            Hi Markyroson,

Right now your image has a width of 889px. Stretching that image (ie. full width) to 1920px (which is a very popular resolution and likely what you’re using) is causing you a large amount of distortion as it’s almost twice the size of the actual image. In other words, it’s not your browser, it’s your image.
