Masthead not resizing on mobile

Hi –

I’m working on a website with Vantage theme and have used a masthead 1350 x 200 based on client’s preference. When I view on mobile, it does not change size at all. Do I need to add code, or is there a setting on this?

On my own website, I have Sydney, and the masthead doesn’t appear at all on mobile, so I’m clearly missing something.

Any help with be great!

Alyssa

    Hi Alyssa

    Thanks for reaching out.

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Thanks, Andrew. It’s https://joanvincent.net/.

It’s very simple, again based on client preference, so very few bells and whistles in comparison to what the theme offers. It’s why I’m wondering if I’m just missing a setting somewhere.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alyssa

    Thanks for the link.

Do you perhaps have a layered copy of the logo image? If you’d like the header to be full-width, the best way to build this would be to add the header background using only the background pattern. The text and lady writing would then be added as the logo with a transparent background. That should give you a logo linked to the home page and header + logo that resizes appropriately on all screen sizes.

Thanks, Andrew! I’ll give that a try and see what I can do.

I’ll have to fiddle with my own website, because the masthead/header is a photo, but it sort of has to be in order to be on brand. http://www.alyssa-alexander.com

    Again, thanks so much!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alyssa

If you could layer the client site header image it should work nicely.

On your site, the header image background is using background image size contain and isn’t full-screen width so the situation is a little different. Hopefully, you’re able to find a setup that works.

    Hi Andrew –

Layering on the client site is working perfectly. Thank you!

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update. At Customize > Theme Design > Layout. Please, try setting the Masthead Background Image to Cover. If it looks ok, that should remove the small bits of white on either side of the header. Up to you though.

Andrew, you are awesome! Done. I’m looking at it on my phone and it seems to work.

I appreciate your assistance! And this is one of the reasons I tend to use SiteOrigin themes. Highly recommend!
