Live Site Origin Widgets Status – Any Update?

5 days ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 1 day ago

I’m also having the same issue with the LSOW widgets. We utilize the tabs, accordion, buttons , odometers, and post carousels. Would love to know any update on these and if we will get them back, as we have some pretty important content that has seemingly vanished with these LSOW widgets missing.

Thank you!

Hi, unfortunately, we don\’t have any information as to the status of the Livemesh plugin review on wordpress.org.

What caused the widgets to be missing? Did you deactivate or delete the Livemesh plugin?

Hi, we didn’t do anything to the plugin as far as deactivating or deleting. There wasn’t even an update to be made with this widget. The more concerning part is that I can’t even find this plugin in “installed plugins” or in the “add new plugin” option. All I can see on my end is each of these widgets displaying a “lsow widget missing” for all of the features that I listed in the first comment that are: tabs, accordion, buttons , odometers, and post carousels.

Do you perhaps have a security type plugin that might have removed Livemesh once it was suspended on the WordPress.org plugin directory?

    Hi Andrew,

We have a WordFence Security Plugin, which I don’t believe would have removed the Livemesh. We also have the “Smart Plugin Manager” through WPengine. Could that be the plugin you’re referring to?

Hi, thanks for the update. Unfortunately, I\’m not sure which of the two above mentioned plugins might be responsbile for the removal. To restore your existing widgets you could perhaps try installing the plugin again.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for this message and providing a zip of the livemesh plugin. We are still a little concerned about the vulnerability of this plugin. Is the plugin version you provided in the zip the most up-to-date and secure version? Apologies for all the questions, but we are still not seeing this plugin available through the WordPress “Add Plugin” option. In the plugin directory for this widget, this notification is also front and center. “This plugin has been closed as of May 18, 2026 and is not available for download. This closure is temporary, pending a full review.”

    Hi,

To confirm: the link I shared is the last version (3.9.2) that was published on WordPress.org before the plugin was closed for review on May 18, 2026. SiteOrigin is not the author of the Livemesh plugin, so we don’t control its release status — that closure notice is on the WordPress.org side, and we don’t have a timeline for the review.

On the security question: the open Wordfence advisory (CVE-2026-3896) is a stored cross-site scripting issue. It isn’t a high-severity, anonymously-exploitable flaw — it requires an attacker to already hold an authenticated account on your site at Subscriber level or above. On most sites the practical risk is limited, and you can reduce it further by:

    1. Disabling open user registration (Settings → General → uncheck “Anyone can register”), or tightening it so untrusted accounts can’t be created.
    2. Keeping your WordFence firewall active, which blocks the kind of malicious requests this flaw relies on.

3.9.2 is the most recent version that was published, but no patched release exists yet, so it’s the same code the advisory refers to. Reinstalling it will restore your missing widgets (tabs, accordion, buttons, odometers, post carousels), but whether to run it while the review is pending is your call. If you’d rather not, the alternative is to rebuild that content using SiteOrigin’s own widgets.

Hope that helps to frame the options available.
