link not working

Hi there I have made several attempts to add an email address using the link icon in visual editor – I click update and it creates the link initially but as soon as I update and go to view it does not appear as a link on the web page and when I go back to the dashboard and into the page the link has gone.

the text I am using for the link is mailto:[email protected] ???

    I have added a widget which seems to have fixed it thanks
