i can’t add side bar to my home page

i can’t add my side bar to my home page which i need for the blog ? it adds ok on all other pages fine .. I’m very new to word press and can’t for the life of me work out to add it ? any help would be appreciated

    Hey James

    Go to Pages > Home and locate the Page Template drop down menu in the right column. Set that to Default.

    Hope that helps :)

    Click Screen Options and make sure the Page Attributes checkbox is enabled.

    nearly there but now I’m stuck with a comments box…what I’m aiming is secondary menu..latest news via side bar which will post to Facebook etc… i don’t want people commenting via the site …hope that makes sense :)
