How do I change the height of the slider widget?

I am using Influence since I love the home page slider as compared to the meta slider with the Vantage theme.

I realized the slider only displays on the home page so I thought to use the slider widget on the additional pages I create.

I have run into an issue with the size of the video on the page. I wanted the slider height to be the same as the height of the home page slider lets say 300 or 400 pixels tall.

But the slider stretches the video as in the documentation to fill the container height which is probably double.

Is there a way to fix this?

As always, thanks so much for all your help,

    Hi Michelle

To get those videos displaying at their correct size you’ll unfortunately, for the moment, need to insert them using a regular embed code in a Text widget and wrap them in a div that turns off FitVids. I go into detail here:

Thread: How can I stop my video displaying at full width?

Let me know how you come along.

Okay, I will give this a try. It’s actually very exciting to try to make this adjustment since I don’t know much about these things… I’m willing to learn. :-)

Hmm, looks like this idea will not work as a slider.

I also wanted to put graphics in front of the video like in the demo version of the home page slider.

Back to the drawing board.. Lol

    Thanks ~

Ahh right, sorry about that, when I checked your page I didn’t see anything following the video so I thought we could just roll with one video. At the moment it’s unfortunately not possible to set a height for the Slider widget. You could restrict it’s width but would need to do so in quite a manual fashion, placing it in a center column.

Sorry we don’t have better news here. Meta Slider Pro can handle these things if you have a copy of that.

    No worries! :-)

One last question – Is there a way to add more than one slider to the Influence theme? It looks like there is only the demo and home options. Just wondering. :-)

If not I’ll keep looking for a good solution. :-)
Thanks so much. You are so much help. I really appreciate all you guys do.

    Hi Michelle

On each page you can use Page Builder to add a Slider widget to the first Page Builder row. Then in the right column there is an option to make your first Page Builder row into the page slider.

Give that that a try and let us know how it goes.

    OMG! Thats awesome!

Oh wait ! :-/ When I check the box to let the first row be in the header the page is blank when I view it. When I un-check the box then update the page is normal.

    Is there something I’m missing?

I can’t believe you are spending time helping me on this! You Rock!

    Thanks so much,

    Hi Michelle

Thanks for your feedback. It seems we forgot to update this functionality when we released Page Builder 2.1. I’ve logged the error but for now at least this functionality is not working.

Sorry, wish I had better news. We’ll push an update to Influence Plus as soon as possible.

No problem :-) I’ll be happy to try it out once the update comes through.

Until then, I’ll look for an alternative solution. :-)

Again, thanks so much. You guys really go above and beyond.

I’m so sorry to leave yet another post on this thread… But I’m trying to use the Influence theme because of the beautiful home page slider… except I would like to add a unique slider on each other page as well.

So I downloaded the MetaSlider and the option to add a slider to the page is not there. Is it because the Influence theme is overriding the meta slider somehow?

Just trying to figure out what my next step is.

I need to get this site built and although I love the Influence theme I’m not finding any resolution to my slider issue. :(

    Thanks for your help,

OMG!!! I think I figured it out! Yay!

So, I added the meta slider shortcode into the ‘box’ for the ‘Influence slider’ short code and IT WORKS!!!

    I think we’re good now. :)

    Thanks so much,

Awesome! Really glad to hear you were able to resolve. Yup, that’s the right way.

    All the best :)
