Home page (only) body and footer margin challenge

Hello all –

I’m just into my 2nd week of learning creating/designing web pages (forced need really and I probably wouldnt do it again) and asked for help earlier from a friend to migrate the site I worked on out of the test folder. Long story short, the friend wasn’t able to do it correctly because we both didn’t know there was an issue migrating with PB using the method he knows.

So I’m in the process of recreating the home page now, the 1st of few pages (arghh) -challenge is, the home page I just made has a left and right margin on the body and footer while the other pages don’t. It’s on the mobile view too. I can’t seem to find a way to get rid of those using the methods I know and searching the support forum which was BIG BIG help btw to someone like me who doesn’t know anything about what he’s doing.

This may be something very easy to solve, I apologize in advance, but I’m stuck and need this fixed ASAP. The wife is already sending me to the dog house for the hours I’m spending doing this website.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Bryan

Sorry to hear about the hassles.

Somehow the footer div has been included inside of the main div when it should come afterwards. Have theme files been directly edited? Just a quick reminder, that needs to happen inside of a child theme to avoid loss during theme update. To resolve this you could re-install Vantage. Steps are outlined here: https://siteorigin.com/basics/updating-theme-from-zip/ and the ZIP file download link is available in your original order email. You can re-send that email from the following form: Page: Retrieve Your Theme Order Numbers

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the quick reply. Followed all the steps outlined and that unfortunately didn’t work -the home page body and footer still has a bottom and side margin (white space).

Saw that the fresh install cleared the Custom CSS entries which was where I put some changes in the first place and not directly on the theme files (as I’ve read on here before that I shouldn’t ever mess directly with the theme files so I never did).

    Hi, I Work Here

Sorry to hear that. That shouldn’t have happened. Let me know if you need a hand getting anything back.

Please try de-activating all non-SiteOrigin plugins at once and re-test. If the home page renders correctly then re-activate your plugins one by one, each time checking the home page.

No problemo, Andrew. It was Edit CSS I was using and just had to restore to a previous version. No harm done.

Good news is that the solution to my challenge was something very easy… Page Attributes>Template>choose Full width page, no title… I had it on Page Builder Home.

Uninstalled plugins earlier which cleared the PB layout problems (buttons and text were misaligned)

All good here now! Any help I will need in the future -I won’t hesitate to reach out, seeing how quick you guys respond. The newbie made the right choice with Site Origin.
