I am running free Vantage (great choice, works beautifully but..). I want to have a background image for the header. I see that using Appearance>Costomise>Theme Design>Page and putting it there doesn’t work. I found your suggested code
header#masthead {
background-image: url(“https://fleecejazzorgukremote.local/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/image.jpeg”);
}
running local, put it in additional css where other little mods have worked, nothing happens.
I am a relative newbie, really need help on this one.
Hi Dave
Thanks for reaching out.
Glad to hear you’re giving Custom CSS a try.
To confirm, the setting at AppearanceCustomizeTheme DesignPageMasthead Background Image didn’t work? If so, are you perhaps using the Logo in Menu header layout?
I am using it in Site Identity which doesn’t seem to work either.

Hi Dave
Site Identity doesn’t have a header background setting that I’m aware of.
If at CustomizeTheme SettingsLayoutMasthead Layout you’ve selected Logo in Menu, the Masthead Backround setting at CustomizeTheme DesignPageMasthead Background Image won’t be applicable.
Site IdentityLogo won’t be displayed if you’ve added a logo at CustomizeTheme SettingsLogo. All settings work but the Theme SettingsLogo takes precedence over Site IdentityLogo. Vantage had a logo setting long before WP added a logo setting to the Customizer hence the settings double-up. All are functional but there is an order of application.
Thank you very much for this. Loaded down with domestics so will use your info tomorrow.
